Highland Bakery, a favorite amongst Inman Park residents is now spreading its wings and opening an additional location. Still in town, this new location will be located in 1180 Peachtree, where TAP is and TROIS recently closed. Highland Bakery will have about 900 s/f on the 14th Street side just below H. Stockton and is scheduled to open late in the first quarter of 2010. The space they are taking has not been anything in the past and will be all new construction. The new location will serve a scaled down version of its popular menu including breakfast sandwiches, soups, salads and sandwich lunch options, as well as their fresh baked breads and pastries. The new location will also serve an assortment of signature gourmet coffee drinks as well as catering options. For months a friend of mine had motioned for Stacey Eames, Highland Bakery's owner to open in the former Gold Star Cafe & Bakery at 8th and Peachtree to no avail. That space recently opened as Concentrics Bakeshop concept instead. While personally I think the Gold Star space would have provided better foot traffic throughout the week, it should do well in 1180 as well. ToNeTo Atlanta
