Stars Fell On Phipps Plaza, Michael Stars This Is

Michael Stars will open a new boutique at Phipps Plaza by months end. The new store will occupy approx 1,000 s/f on the first level near Brookstone in the former Crabtree & Evelyn. Michael Stars, a Los Angeles-based, family run business began producing women's T-shirts in 1986 and opened their first stand alone retail store in 2001 in Manhattan Beach, California. The brand caters to women seeking a contemporary look and a comfortable fit. In my eyes, their merchandise is at times similar to Spendid Mills, with fabrics softer and more comfortable than many others. Unfortunately though, Michael Stars apparel is currently womens only whereas Spendid Mills have a mens collection.

I visited their location at the Grove in L.A. a few years ago and knew it was only a matter of time before it came to Atlanta. The Phipps location will be the twelfth for the company though their merchandise is available at a number of retailers in Atlanta such as Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom as well as local boutiques Tootsies and Squash Blossom. (The Michael Stars website reflects their merchandise being sold at local boutiques Knitch in Atlantic Station and Drewmatics in Buford but sadly both of these boutiques have closed.) The Phipps Plaza location will carry the company's full line of signature T-shirts in addition to sweater, outerwear, and accessory collections. ToNeTo Atlanta
