Norcross based Waffle House will open its long awaited location on the campus of Georgia State in the next few days. Opening in the recently completed Parker H. Petit Science Center at the intersection of Decatur Street and Piedmont Avenue, the restaurant itself will be located on the Piedmont Avenue side of the building adjacent to the sports arena, just down from the Georgia State MARTA station. Both the building and restaurant were originally scheduled to open in the spring but construction delays at the start delayed the opening until now.
Last fall, Waffle House opened a location about a mile away at Underground Atlanta, and this past spring they opened in the former American Apparel store at Tech Square near Georgia Tech. While the Landmark Diner didn't last long at the Georgia State Commons (Student Dorms) down Piedmont Avenue, I'm hopeful that Waffle House will be a lasting addition to the Georgia State community.
