G-Star RAW quietly opened a temporary store at Lenox Square a few days ago and will soon close for a full build out. Based in Amsterdam, G-Star was first launched in 1989, and in 1996, G Star was the first brand to introduce a "Raw Denim" style of jeans, completely untreated and straight out of the factory. Since then the word "RAW" was added to the company branding though it's commonly referred to simply as G-Star.
G-Star's Lenox store took space vacated by LoveSac, which moved next door to the
space Betsey Johnson vacated, as they too moved, for now, to Phipps Plaza. While small in size, G-Star has thus far manged to pack plenty of merchandise into the store, and from what I can tell, does carry some of the women's collection, but not much. The amount of merchandise and what exactly is carried is sure to change once the store gets its permanent fixtures and layout. I've been told the store prioritized opening in time for last minute holiday shopping and that they will close in late January for between "five and seven weeks" to create their permanent store.

Until now, certain pieces from the line could be found at boutiques such as Bill Hallman and STANDARD and department stores like Nordstrom and the newly opened Von Maur in Alpharetta. STANDARD is located just a few feet from the store while the other mentioned stores are in other parts of the city. Bloomingdale's in Lenox has carried the line on and off over the years but if I recall, recently clearanced out the line again and has not stocked new merchandise.
The store in Lenox will be quite small, but I'm hopeful that it will both do well and be properly stocked. It's a bit of an odd location, but being near both STANDARD and Nike may work to its advantage. Fellow international retailer Miss Sixty / Energie did not fare well domestically, and closed all of their US stores over the past year, including one at Lenox Square. I've visited the G-Star stores in Aventura Mall in south Florida and Santa Monica Place in California, and while Atlanta and Lenox Square do not provide the same demographics, this store should do well.
Have you heard of G-Star RAW? Will you patronize their new location? Do you have a certain retailer you think should open at Lenox that is not yet here? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Why no Chanel or Dior stores??
G Star is an awesome jean... and very hard to find (except in NYC). Even ordering them online is a problem.... They should do well in Atlanta once people catch on if they can get past the other brands they are loyal too
At standard they use to sell g star raw for a long time, but they might have discontinued. But im not suprised, they have one in chicago that I visited and I was impressed!
They also have a G Star location in Dupont Circle in DC and it does well.
G Star Denim rocks...
I am from Jackson Ms and a huge fan of G-Star and G-Star Raw to see that store in Lenox Mall made my day. I was in Atl for the weekend and saw the store I went in and purchased a hat. The sales clerks were lively and the subtle ambiance made for a great shopping experience. Cant wait for the full build out. Ill probable come to ATL every other weekend just to shop. G-Star!!$$
Wut! I am a huge fan of G-star, did not know this shop was opened yet.
