Chef Todd Richards' Time at The Shed May Be Brief

The Shed at Glenwood has wasted no time in filling the vacancy resulting from the departure of chef Lance Gummere, who is joining Shaun Doty in opening Bantam & Biddy.  Chef Todd Richards, who has been with The Cafe at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead since late 2010, will take over at The Shed.

Chef Todd returns to intown Atlanta where he and his then Lush Life partners once operated Rolling Bones Barbeque, but his return may be short lived.  Sources indicate that Richards' tenure at The Shed may be temporary as the grand plan may actually be for him to open his own restaurant in partnership with The Shed's owner Cindy Shera.  There have been rumors for months that Shera was looking to open a second restaurant and it seems that Chef Todd will helm it.

Chef Todd previously worked at the Five Diamond Oakroom Restaurant at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky.  He and Duane Nutter went on to open One Flew South at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  The restaurant received not only local accolades, but national honors as well from the likes of Esquire Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler and Bloomberg Business Week.  While at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, Chef Todd was featured on NBC's The Today Show.

Everything is still in the early stages of development, but Chef Todd will remain in his role as chef de cuisine at The Ritz-Carlton through August third after which he will begin at The Shed.   I'm told Chef Todd hopes to locate his namesake eatery in midtown, so presumably the location is being sought as we speak, and he is further conceptualizing his plans.  No word yet on who will replace Chef Todd at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead.
