Lululemon Stretches OTP

Vancouver, Canada-based lululemon Athletica is bringing its fashionable yoga pants and other athletic apparel outside the perimeter to none other than Perimeter Mall.  This will mark the chain's first mall-based store in Atlanta and first full-line store outside the city limits.

The store will open on the second level of the mall in a space that housed MetroPark for a few years until the retailer filed for bankrupcy last year and closed all of its stores. ( MetroPark's Lenox Square store became  Atlanta's only Original Penguin store last year )  The Perimeter Mall space is adjacent to Apple and is currently scheduled to open November 9th.

Lululemon already has locations in Buckhead at The Shops Around Lenox, on the Westside at White Provision, and a showroom in Roswell.  At one point the company had a showroom in Morningside but it closed ahead of the original Buckhead location on Roswell Road adjacent to the Buckhead Theater.  Given the company's history of opening a showroom first to "test the waters" then replacing it with a full line store, a location at North Point Mall in Alpharetta may be a possibility down the road.

Lululemon is famous for its uber comfortable clothing and form fitting pants.  One thing I have recently  participated in is the store's complimentary weekend yoga classes.  Each store is different and hours and days may vary, but on a single weekend day, basically every week, the store partners with a yoga studio and offers a free yoga class at Lululemon.  This is great marketing for both the store and the studio and usually attract a crowd.  Given that the Perimeter store is in the mall, this event may be tweaked but knowing it is held at other malls, like Boca Town Center in Boca Raton, I think yogis OTP are in for a treat!
