Kennesaw-based Cheeseburger Bobby's will open a new location in Buckhead early next year.
The fast-casual burger joint will replace the shuttered Five Guys at Roswell-Wieuca Shopping Center on Roswell Road in North Buckhead. The space was previously announced to be a Varsity restaurant but that deal fell through over a month ago. As with the first round, sources tell me that at least four food concepts were vying for the Five Guys space in which Cheeseburger Bobby's has now prevailed.
Cheeseburger Bobby's was started by brothers Richard & Bobby Stoll in 2007 with their first location on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw. The Stoll brothers are no strangers to building a restaurant brand, as they are also the founders of Stevi B's The Ultimate Pizza Buffet, a concept similar to CiCi's Pizza. The brothers started Stevi B's in 1996 and grew the chain to 28 locations before selling the chain to Atlanta-based Argonne Capital Group in 2008.
Cheeseburger Bobby's has thus far followed a similar path with a total of six locations now open, with recent locations being franchised stores. The most recent franchised location opened in the redeveloped Peachtree Square North shopping center near Peachtree Corners. Peachtree North's redevelopment included the removal of an existing Kroger and the addition of both a Dick's Sporting Goods and PetSmart, as well as a host of new restaurants including Corner Bakery and Three Dollar Cafe.
Cheeseburger Bobby's Roswell Road location joins a crowded Buckhead market with plenty of "better burgers" already available. Farm Burger already has a popular outpost at TowerPlace on Piedmont, while Smashburger has a location at Buckhead Crossing on at Piedmont & Sidney Marcus.
Although I have not yet personally experienced Cheeseburger Bobby's, they seem to differentiate themselves from some burger joints by offering both a topping bar a la Fuddruckers, and frozen custard by itself and in shakes.
According to the Cheeseburger Bobby's website, additional locations are planned for Sandy Springs, Columbus and Woodstock (near the upcoming The Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta.)
Where is your favorite burger in Buckhead? Will you go to Cheeseburger Bobby's or will you remain loyal to your fav? Do you miss Fuddruckers? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

While the product at smashburger is pretty good, their delivery method is awful. Those metal wire baskets are dreadful.
good luck, you will need it.
I went to a Cheeseburger Bobby's a few months back and overall it was meh. Service was Ok, and the burgers were not bad, but certainly not in the same league as Farm Burger et al. It was toward the end of the night and the store seemed greasy and cluttered.
Just tried this Cheeseburger Bobby's location, and I won't be back. Our burgers were burnt to a crisp, and they didn't get the order right. They seemed to have problems at the register. Five Guys was MUCH better than this place! Too bad the Varsity didn't win out...
