Will Growing Canadian Womens Retailer Aritzia Come on Down to Georgia Soon?

Aritzia may come to Atlanta, just no time soon.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Aritzia, a women's retailer specializing in casual clothing, sponsored a video over the summer entitled "Southern Living," about cool attractions and restaurants around Atlanta.  The video was hosted by Brittany Bosco, an aspiring musician in Atlanta who, other than her referring to Bocado as Bocada, does a pretty good job of showcasing cool eateries like Sublime Doughnuts and Octopus bar.

With no existing retail presence, I wondered if this was perhaps a precursor to a new store opening in metro Atlanta.  I was in New York shortly after seeing the video and inquired at the retailer's SoHo location about a possible Peach state location.

I was told that while the retailer is growing, Atlanta is not on the immediate growth path.  The manager went on to say that "in a few years" Atlanta is likely to get "at least one" Aritzia store.  Perimeter and Buckhead (either Lenox Square or Buckhead Atlanta) make the most sense to me.

Aritzia's target demographic is girls and womens ages 14-30.  One of the more popular items found in Aritzia stores are the popular TNA pants.  TNA pants and other related apparel items are sold exclusively at Artizia and are similar to those offered from fellow Canadian retailer lululemon Athletica.

Along with TNA, Aritiza also offers their own exclusive lines such as Wilfred, Babaton and Talula along with popular brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Rag & Bone/Jean, J Brand, Levi's and Doc Martens.

Founded in 1984, the chain has now grown to about 60 locations, about a dozen of which are located in the U.S., the rest in Canada.  Currently, Aritzia has no presence in the southeast, with most of their stores located in either the northeast or along the west coast.
