Sweet Hut Sets its Sights on Store in Kennesaw

The original Sweet Hut on Buford Highway in Doraville
Asian bakery & cafe coming to Kennesaw

Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe plans to open a new location off Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw. The new Sweet Hut will be located in an outparcel of the Walmart-anchored Town Center Market shopping center on Chastain Meadows Parkway.  I first heard talk of a planned Kennesaw location earlier this year, but a deal to bring the cafe further into the burbs was made final this week.

The chain, which started on Buford Highway in Doraville in 2012, has since added locations at the Metropolis on Peachtree Street in Midtown, and most recently in Duluth at 2180 Pleasant Hill Boulevard.

Sweet Hut features a variety of Asian pastries, beverages, and cakes.  Now, according to their website, they also offer assorted hot and cold sandwiches at their midtown location.

Sweet Hut locations in Doraville and Duluth are within close proximity of heavy Asian populations, while the midtown location is close to Georgia Tech and robust daytime office traffic.  It will be interesting to see if Sweet Hut can duplicate their success in a market such as Kennesaw.  Walmart and Town Center Market are frequented by Kennesaw State students, so with luck they become fans of Sweet Hut's offerings.

Irving Jacobson and Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc. represented Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe in their purchase of the 1.233 acre parcel.  According to Josovitz, the "ground up, state-of-the art" Kennesaw Sweet Hut is planned to be 6,000 square feet, double the size of the Midtown location.

Construction should start before the end of the year with an opening likely late in the second quarter of 2016.

Are you a fan of Sweet Hut?  Do you think residents of Kennesaw will take a liking to Sweet Hut's unique offerings? Where would you like to see Sweet Hut open next?

Please share your thoughts below.

My daughter has absolutely no willpower or money management skills, loves boba tea and will only accompany us to dinner on Buford Highway if we promise her a drink from Sweet Hut as dessert, and has just started a part-time afterschool job within walking distance of that strip mall. I foresee at least one paycheck vanishing entirely into this place's register. This might help with teaching her the value of a dollar, so I applaud the move, I guess.

@Anonymous, if you're unfamiliar with The Rotisserie Shop, Bangkok Cabin, and Big Shanty Smokehouse, you should look into those.
