Nancy G's, under the guidance of Executive Chef Ron Eyester, has been renamed Southern Bistro or Bistro Chastain Park, if you go by the newly installed exterior signage. Nancy G's was opened by Nancy Jackson Goodrich about ten years ago in Fountain Oaks shopping center on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. According a splash page for the newly launched venture, a new menu featuring "Locally Sourced Southern Cuisine From Nancy G & Ron Eyester" is coming soon. The menu, which already carries the Southern Bistro brand, seems at least somewhat "inspired" by Eyester's former Morningside eatery, Rosebud. Although I live nearby, I don't visit often enough to know whether the "Persona Non Grata" wine was already on the menu or added just for me. As a fan of what Nancy G's was, I sure hope Eyester doesn't screw it up like he did his former restaurants.
If you frequent the Toco Hills area, you've seen the cluster that is the parking lot of the Office Depot portion of the Toco Hills shopping center. Edens, the center's new owner, is in the midst of a top secret, highly classified renovation of the center's common areas, parking surface and exterior facade. I say highly classified, as even though work is actively taking place, Herbert Ames, area Vice President with the firm, has refused to comment about what is going on. When I inquired about the parking situation and requested that I be provided renderings of the vision for the project, I was directed to Ann McCarthy, Communications Director for Edens. After being ignored for weeks, I was eventually provided the following statement "As you know, work is underway on parts of the infrastructure of the shopping center... As soon as we have more information or materials to share on the center, I will reach out right away." I was given a similar boilerplate response when I originally inquired about the renovation in April. While being reluctant to share renderings of new stores, tenants, etc. is understandable, the firm's highly secretive stance is off-putting to me, and to many readers who have reached out to me, concerned about the mess the center is currently in.
Cheeky has closed its location in The Avenue East Cobb. The restaurant, which quietly closed last week, was "bought out of its lease" by Tin Lizzy's taqueria and cantina. (I was tipped off to this thanks to my friends at Scoop OTP.) Atlanta-based Tin Lizzy's, which had previously planned on opening in nearby Woodlawn Square, is already renovating the space with plans to be open by late October. Cheeky continues to operate locations in Norcross, Forsyth and Suwanee, and plans to open a new location in Sandy Springs later this month. Tin Lizzy's currently operates ten locations in Georgia in addition to one each in Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina.
Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft, which closed last month to perform renovations, reopened at 5PM Saturday for dinner service.
Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has joined the list of tenants that have committed to the new Parkside West Cobb shopping center on Dallas Highway near the Avenue West Cobb. The new Freddy's will follow the opening of a new Freddy's at the Kennesaw Marketplace center, also in Cobb county, at Cobb and Barrett Parkways. When both new locations open, the Wichita, Kansas-based chain will have nine restaurants in Georgia.

Thanks to reader "ImAndy" for the tipping me off to the following:
Ruby Tuesday has closed their Duluth location at 3580 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The restaurant was one of about 95 units the Maryville, Tennessee-based chain planned to close for "underperformance." The freestanding restaurant is located near the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and could be of interest to growing restaurant chains.

I've been to cheeky once and it was at that location. On a Saturday evening it was dead. I found it terribly expensive for the quality and apparently others did as well. I think even sodas were $3.75.
I can't believe it was a Bites and Bites without an obituary for another Ruby Tuesday that closed last week.
Do you know anything about the closure of Haiku near North Point Mall?
Try to chase down Tin Lizzy's planned hours for East Cobb. Many of their locations are open to 1, 2am on weekends and just don't see a demand for that in that location.
Stacy the food was bad... and there is a alot of choice in that area.
Toscano and Sons is closing in VaHi...
