Local luggage store calls it quits at popular center.
Mori Luggage & Gifts, the Atlanta based luggage retailer, has closed its Peachtree Battle shopping center store after 32 years in business. A sign posted to the retailer's front door indicates says:
"After 32 years at Peachtree Battle, we regret this location has closed. Since 1984, we have truly enjoyed serving your travel and gift needs at Peachtree Battle. Thank you for your patronage and support."
The store reportedly closed earlier this month.
Mori operates ten stores in metro Atlanta plus an eleventh in Augusta and an additional pair of stores at Hartsfield-Jackson. Overall, the chain has 30 stores throughout the southeast, including stores at both Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza in Buckhead, as well as their newest store, concept sibling ROAM by MORI, a millennial focused, more moderately priced boutique, at Ponce City Market.
Mori previously closed locations in Northlake Mall in Tucker and near Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, as well as stores in Columbus, Georgia and Spartanburg, South Carolina.
This past fall, Leather & Luggage Depot, which had been in West Midtown for 24 years, closed. Originally opened in 1992, the family owned and operated business has been a fixture on Chattahoochee Avenue since long before "West Midtown" was en vogue. Owners David and Gill Green reportedly approached the owners of Mori Luggage about a merger or buyout, but no deal was ever reached.
Where do you buy your luggage? Is luggage something you have to buy in person? What would you like to see open in place of Mori at Peachtree Battle?

Just continues the trend of brick and mortar slowly dying. Especially local brick and mortar.
Sad......
