[FRESH BAKED] Breadwinner Cafe to Rise at Former Wrights in Dunwoody

The owners of Breadwinner Cafe confirmed earlier today that "the rumors are true," and that they have reached an agreement to open in the former Wright Gourmet in Dunwoody.  Wright, a Dunwoody Village mainstay for 35 years, closed abruptly this past February.  The space is located in Shops of Dunwoody at 5482 Chamblee Duwnoody Road and will be larger than the original Breadwinner at 220 Sandy Springs Circle in Springs Landing.
Husband and wife business partners Geoff and Katie Melkonian opened the original Breadwinner Cafe in 2010.  The Sandy Springs location is about 2,500 square feet, whereas the new Dunwoody cafe will be about 3,400 square feet.

Breadwinner Cafe features a variety of typical cafe offerings like soups, salads and sandwiches, but is perhaps most well known for their fresh-made breads such as peach, pumpkin, banana and cranberry-orange, among other varieties.

The Melkonians expanded beyond their Sandy Springs location in 2015 when they opened a similar, but differently named concept, Farm to Ladle, at Ponce City Market.  The couple subsequently opened a second Farm to Ladle at Avalon in Alpharetta in 2016.

According to the Facebook post announcing the opening, Breadwinner Cafe's owners plan to be open "late summer."

Are you excited to have a locally owned, Panera alternative in Dunwoody Village?  Where else would you like to see Breadwinner open?  What is your favorite menu item at Breadwinner Cafe?

Never been to Breadwinner Cafe but it sounds like a perfect fit - replacing one local mom and pop sandwich place with another. I hope that Dunwoody welcomes them and that they enjoy a 35 year run of their own.

I think the locals are just relieved that it's not going to be another bank.

This is a win for Dunwoody. They have great food! The Sandy Springs location can get overwhelmed at lunch on Saturdays. Having a bigger space is nice.

We love Breadwinner in Sandy Springs - Dunwoody is lucky to get this yummy, healthy restaurant! Best wishes to the Melkonians on their latest expansion.

Will the Dekalb Republican party loiter around there along with that creepy Terry Nall? That's why Wright's closed, nobody felt safe there anymore

Owner appears scary, not going there.

Your anonymous ad nausea vitriol regarding Wright's will ensure Trump victory in 2020. That is you wish?

According to CNN, Democrats (socialists) are the party of riots, violence and uncivilized behavior. HRH HRC even thinks many are super predators.
