It was announced late Monday that just days after closing and selling their Buckhead bar, Park Bench will reopen in 2020 at The Battery Atlanta. The popular dueling piano bar and live music venue will relocate from their roughly 5,000 square foot Buckhead home on Irby Avenue to a 6,565 square foot space in the mixed-use project adjacent to SunTrust Park in Cobb County.
Park Bench had been a Buckhead staple for more than two decades, but as ToNeTo Atlanta first reported last week, sold their Buckhead Village location to neighboring bar Stagecoach, which plans to expand into their space.
At The Battery Atlanta, Park Bench will host live music throughout the day and night from local musicians, national bands, cover bands, and more, seven days a week. The bar’s dueling piano concept, introduced in 2013, will continue to offer an interactive audience element by allowing song requests, inviting toasts and other activities. The relocated bar and venue will have multiple patios, VIP bottle service and private event space. Park Bench will feature a variety of performers and genres, including country, alternative and rock. With acoustic acts in the afternoon, dueling pianos in the evening, and live bands into the late night, the venue will offer many options for enjoying music.
Park Bench will be located in a currently vacant corner space in the street level retail of Cortland's apartment community, across from Wahlburgers and Cru Food & Wine Bar on the corner of Heritage Court and Battery Avenue. The bar is scheduled to open during the 2020 baseball season.
ToNeTo Atlanta reported September 11 that Savannah's River Street Sweets, which for several years had a shop at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead before closing last March, will open a new shop at The Battery Atlanta in the coming months. Park Bench and River Street Sweets are the latest in a string of dining and entertainment focused concepts recently announced to be joining The Battery Atlanta.
The VOID, which recently opened, "combines state-of-the art VR technology, physical stages and multi-sensory effects - including touch and smell - with Hollywood characters and storylines, letting participants experience fully immersive worlds that, until now, have only lived in the imagination."
Good Game, powered by Topgolf's Swing Suite, will bring simulator bays, where up to eight people per bay can play, eat and socialize, to The Battery Atlanta later this year. The new 7,500 square foot concept will be located adjacent to Punch Bowl Social and will also feature an expansive bar and dining area with a diverse menu featuring and craft cocktails.
Also opening soon is "PH’EAST," a new Asian-focused mini food hall that will offer a wide variety of beverages, meals and quick snacks from Snackboxe Bistro, Kung Fu Tea, Poke Burri, Taps @ PH'EAST and Lifting Noodles Ramen.
