[Muy Emocionante] Award Winning, Locally Owned Mexican Eatery Goes for Cinco in Dunwoody

A new Mexican restaurant is coming soon to Dunwoody.  The owners of Taqueria Los Hermanos plan to open a new location of their locally owned casual eatery in the old Wing Factory in the Shops of Dunwoody shopping center along Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody Village.  Wing Factory, which closed this past July, operated in Dunwoody for five years, and remains open in Chastain Park, Chamblee and Smyrna.

The new, roughly 3,000 square foot Dunwoody location of Taqueria Los Hermanos will be the fifth for the local chain that got its start in Tucker in 2000.  The Ballesteros brothers opened the first location in the Publix-anchored The Centre on Hugh Howell, after which they added locations in Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Suwanee.

The casual restaurant is a favorite among several ToNeTo Atlanta readers in Tucker and has won numerous awards and accolades over the years.  The restaurant's menu is influenced by the Southwestern coast of Mexico as well as "California and Georgia cuisine."

Sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the owners of Taqueria Los Hermanos plan to be open in Dunwoody in January 2020.  The new Mexican restaurant would likely be followed by Breadwinner Cafe and Bakery, which is slated to open its second overall location "in early 2020" in place of the beloved Wright's Gourmet which abruptly closed this past February after about 35 years in business.

ToNeTo Atlanta thanks City of Dunwoody City Council member Terry Nall for the above photo as well as the tip about the exciting Dunwoody opening.

What is your favorite casual Mexican eatery in metro Atlanta?  Have you ever been to one of the existing Taqueria Los Hermanos locations?  Are you excited for the opening of Taqueria Los Hermanos in Dunwoody?

Looking forward to the arrival of TLH. If they provide good service and put pride into their food, Dunwoody will support them just as much as Tucker supports their location. IMO, the current choices for Mexican in the area are very weak.

Dunwoody already has a fantastic Mexican restaurant (El Azteca), around the corner that has been there since 2006, has a very loyal following (both local and from around the metro area), which has better food and drinks than the others in that particular chain, and whose long time and admired general manager, who was born and raised in Dunwoody, is buying the restaurant from the current owner, and is in the process of making needed renovations and will likely be changing the name in early 2020.
While the new restaurant featured in your article may have done well in Tucker, it will struggle mightily in Dunwoody.
Terry Nall just got clobbered in the Dunwoody election last week. Now he recommends restaurants? Sad.

Best mexican restaurant in atlanta.

If their food is good they will do fine in Dunwoody.
El Azteca is the McDonalds of Mexican restaurants. I used to go to the Roswell Road location weekly for Friday happy hour. The food was well below par so it was normally just beers and then elsewhere for dinner. I have never been to the El Azteca in Dunwoody despite living less than 2 miles away from it. Something about it being right next door to an animal clinic is just not appealing.

Terry Nall is finishing out his term of office as City Councilman and sent a photo and tip about the upcoming restaurant opening to bring some publicity to the city. Not sure what is wrong with that.

I am very excited for Taqueria Los Hermanos in Dunwoody! I have gone to the Tucker location since 2006. It's consistently been my favorite Mexican restaurant, although Rreal Taco in Midtown and Buzy Burrito in Doraville are very good.

If you've only been going to the standard Dunwoody Mexican restaurants, prepare to have your taste buds opened! I hope they are very successful in Dunwoody.

I wish they would open a location at the Old Desta in Williamsburg Village at Briarcliff & Clairmont.

It's not easy to get to Toco Hill or Buford highway during the week for dinner and there's not any decent Mexican for those neighborhoods.

Tough location! I frequent that shopping center 4-5 a week and Dunwoody Tavern owns that shopping center. With wright gourmet gone, traffic in that center is down.

Not a good idea. Would have preferred a good sushi, chinese, vietnamese restaurant here. Something to differentiate from the 1/4 mile radius from this location.

There's a Vietnamese restaurant (COM) about 20 yards from there in the same shopping center. There's also a Japanese/Korean/Sushi restaurant (Wasabi House) like 2 doors down. Are you sure you know where this center is?

I agree with the other posters. This restaurant will struggle. Adding another Mexican restaurant when we have amazing food with El Azteca. Agree that sushi or a Top Spice location would have been better there.

Nope, it's going to do great. My family doesn't go out for Mexican in Dunwoody, but we will when TLH opens.

El Azteca - amazing food? LOL
If you want really good Mexican food, try Nuevo Laredo.

I am still puzzled why so many people are suggesting concepts that are already in the center.

You know what would do great next to a sushi place? another sushi place! really?

Nuevo Laredo is so overrated! You must be someone who goes "in-town" for date night if you live OTP. Their food is so overrated and it amazes me how everyone raves about them when their food is mediocre at best. I'm not comparing this new place, The Brothers, to any other local Dunwoody establishment, but when you name drop nuevo laredo you lose your cred for knowing anything about quality Mezican food.

Glad to hear TLH are opening another location! I've eaten at all four of the other locations...usually Tucker and Lawrenceville...and they're consistently great! Nuevo Laredo is quite good, better than most, but TLH is among the very best I've had in Atlanta (been here since the mid-80s)

Yes, agreed, El Azteca is the most basic of formula Tex Mex and Nueva Laredo is watered down American Mex, with a nice atmosphere. And sometimes Im in the mood for that...but LOS HERMANOS is a different league of quality food. Their special dinner dishes are unrivalled, as is their fresh chicken tortilla soup. Dunwoody is in for a treat.
