[EXCLUSIVE ] Casual Italian Dining Returns to Camp Creek

The new year will bring a new Olive Garden restaurant to metro Atlanta.  Planning documents reviewed by ToNeTo Atlanta confirm that a new Olive Garden will be built at 3390 Camp Creek Parkway in East Point where a former Ruby Tuesday restaurant was recently demolished.  The new Olive Garden will open alongside former sibling Darden Restaurants concept Red Lobster and not far from current Darden sibling brand LongHorn Steakhouse.
The opening of Olive Garden in Camp Creek Marketplace marks the return of casual Italian dining to the center following the 2015 closure of Johnny Carino's (today known simply as Carino's) at 3330 Camp Creek Parkway.  The former Carino's building was later demolished to make way for a multi-suite building including an AT&T store, Lush Nail Bar and Chipotle.

Established in Orlando in 1982 and originally owned by General Mills, Olive Garden is today owned by Orlando-based Darden Restaurants (a spinoff of General Mills) and operates about 900 locations globally including more than a dozen in metro Atlanta.  The Camp Creek location, right off I-285, gets the chain close to, but not inside the perimeter, where it remains without a presence.

Known for its generous portions and economical prices, Olive Garden is perhaps most famous for its unlimited breadsticks of which it reportedly serves about 530 million annually.

Are you excited for the opening of Olive Garden at Camp Creek Marketplace in East Point? What is your favorite Darden Restaurants concept?  What other types of restaurants would you like to see open in the area?

I love bread but Olive Garden should consider offering unsalted bread sticks. The last time I was there I asked for unsalted ones. Americans consume too much sodium. Everyone should know that sodium is linked to high blood pressure and thus heart disease. Low sodium dishes should be on the menu. I have a garlic allergy, it's the sulfa, that seems to be getting worse. I might not be able to eat there. I love garlic. It just doesn't love me. But welcome Olive Garden!

I am beyond thrilled to have an Olive Garden nearby. I missed Johnny Carino’s when it closed and it’s exciting to know that I can get my Italian fix without traveling all the way to Douglasville! Way to go!
