Nuts ‘n Berries Healthy Market in Decatur has been listed for sale. The grocery store and market, which opened June 1, 2020, occupies a nearly 6,000 square foot space in North Decatur Plaza (2118 North Decatur Road), a shopping center at the corner of North Decatur and Clairmont Roads, not far from Emory University. Nuts 'n Berries replaced Rainbow Natural Foods, a similar store that closed in early 2019 after more than four decades in business.
Steve Josovitz with The Shumacher Group is marketing the listing which he describes as being perfect for a "Market, Grocery, Restaurant, Ghost Kitchen, Commissary or Retail." The space also features two full kitchens, walk-in refrigerator, walk-in freezer, food counter and cafe area with seating.
The market is offered at $595,000, but the sale is for the space, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (excluding the POS system) and does not include the business or name. Shelving fixtures are included if the buyer is keeping the business a market concept. "Due diligence will not include financials of business."
Mari Geier and business partner Kevin Parker purchased the original Nuts ‘n Berries on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven in 2015 before opening the Decatur outpost five years later. The partners plan to focus their attention and resources on maintaining and growing the Brookhaven store. Souper Jenny operates five locations in Atlanta, with both their Brookhaven and Decatur outposts sharing space with Nuts ‘n Berries.
The potential closure/sale of Nuts ‘n Berries Decatur comes just days after traditional grocer Kroger revealed it plans to close its downtown Decatur area store on Commerce Drive as of December 2. The impending closure has renewed calls from readers for a Trader Joe's to open in its place.
What would you like to see open in place of Nuts ‘n Berries in Decatur? Where do you shop for healthy and organic foods? What is your favorite overall grocery store in Atlanta?

I wish I could sell a business where "Due diligence will not include financials of business.". Seems like it would make any acquisition run a lot quicker.
I guess this means goodbye to Souper Jenny's too. :-(
I'd like to suggest that Souper Jenny move to Shamrock Plaza where there is an endcap store that reportedly Bagel Palace was interested in after it left Toco Hill. If not there, please find SOMEWHERE in the Decatur area to relocate to - Decatur loves you and needs you!
