A new restaurant called "1255 Social" plans to open in East Cobb this coming spring. The new restaurant, which recently launched its website, will open in the former Red Sky Tapas which closed this past September after ownership received "an offer they couldn't refuse." 1255 is opening in Market Plaza shopping center at 1255 Johnson Ferry Road which is where the restaurant gets its name.
Saxon has more than three decades of restaurant experience having most recently served as General Manager at the Swan Coach House in Buckhead from September 2020 until this past November. Saxon's other experience includes time with Legacy Ventures Hospitality as their Assistant General Manager, Davidson Hospitality Group as its Director of Outlets, and before that, Senior Food and Beverage Manager at The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Midtown.
A very basic 1255 Social website is up but a chef and menu are slated to be finalized in the new year. According to Saxon, he aims for 1255 to be nice, but not so nice that families aren't comfortable coming in to enjoy a meal together. " We are not trying to compete with Seed." What 1255 will likely hope to do is fill the void in the area left by the 2018 closures of both Muss & Turner's and Zeal.
Plans call for the restaurant to feature a wood-fired grill and wood fired oven and offer dinner only to start, but likely add weekend brunch service once they are ready. In addition to food, Saxon promises a robust beverage program as well as live entertainment.
Are you excited for the addition of 1255 Social to East Cobb? What is your favorite East Cobb area restaurant? What type of restaurant would you most like to see open in East Cobb?

Hopefully several gluten free options will be included
Always leery of restuarants that have "live entertainment" and "great food". In my many years of experience, I have found that either the entertainment is great, or the food is great - rarely are both. Hope this works for them.
Hope it won’t be terribly generic menu - ie “grill”. And will be fresh/local and not thawed out Sysco food
Hope it adds to what is missing an not compete with the restaurants in the area. Red Sky was so unique. Ill miss it!
Yes!!!! That would be great! Vegetarian gluten free especially!
You don't think Red Sky had both?
Interesting. Trying to fill the void left by two restaurants that didn't succeed.
Dairy free and gluten free items / entrees !
Glad to see the restaurant getting reopened, but I think Red Sky was filling the Void of what is missing in East Cobb or the area in general. Hope the food and entertainment is both good and can be a fun go to place again.
Before Chicagos changed management they had really good food and entertainment.
Gluten free and vegetarian options would be sooo nice! Especially if they aren’t so overpriced.
Extra gluten, please! Also, double fat and no vegan options would be fantastic - with live entertainment!
Fish Fridays? I will be there every Friday.
Anybody remember Ritter’s? Now, that was a good restaurant!
Muss &. Turners was good. Good doesn’t always succeed where fast casual seems to be in such high demand for some reason. Zeal just consistently disappointed with overly salty entrees.
ooh a combination of numbers and a word like social or kitchen! ORIGINAL
Fresh! Seafood!!!
I’m with you!!
The red sky owners absolutely did not "receive an offer they couldn't refuse." They screwed their employees over by abruptly closing down without warning or explanation. Literally open on Sunday and closed their doors Monday. They own another restaurant called 1911 biscuits and burgers. Boycott at all costs.
Red Sky was “the bomb”… wonderful bartenders and great food! Please keep the new restaurant as close as possible to Red Sky’s service/food/entertainment!!! I drove all the way from Cumming regularly.
We would like to see good fresh seafood. Another thing we are lacking in East Cobb is a good Italian restaurant. I so miss Giovanni that used to be at Parkaire. They had great food.
Marion Saxon has been forced out of this "partnership" by Ilene Oxman. She owns a crappy, hole-in-the-wall pizzeria and she and the other investor decided that her "experience" is enough to make this restaurant work. It has also had a third name change and is going to supposedly be a "nice" restaurant. It is a really shitty thing that they have done to Marion. He started the whole thing and he's a really good person. This place won't last two years.
