We have received several questions about the former Major League on Northlake Parkway in Tucker. The building, which before Major League was built as an Olive Garden, is currently undergoing renovations to become Katch Kitchen & Cocktails, a local establishment.
According to DeKalb property records, the existing building (2077 Northlake Parkway) is about 8,500 square feet and sits on about an acre. Further research indicates that the new establishment is being opened by Kina Jackson, owner of 656 Sports Bar & Grille, a restaurant and bar on Pryor Street close to Center Parc Stadium (formerly Turner Field).
Sources tell us that the restaurant and bar will have a seafood focus but it's worth mentioning that despite the similar name, the restaurant is unrelated to "The Big Ketch," a seafood restaurant in Buckhead that's part of Southern Proper Hospitality Group.
When Katch does open, hopefully sometime during the first half of 2023, it will join Bambinelli's which relocated this past June to the former O'Charley's near LA Fitness, just off Northlake Parkway.
#ICYMI In other neighborhood news, Five Guys plans to open in the empty space between Verizon Wireless and Chick-fil-A in the outparcel of Northlake (Tower) Festival, Newk's Eatery plans to reopen January 2 in Tucker Meridian under new ownership and management, and K Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot plans to open in early 2023 in the onetime Blockbuster at Northlake (Tower) Festival.
Are you excited for the opening of Katch Kitchen & Cocktails? Have you been to 656 Sports Bar & Grille? What type of restaurant would you most like to see open in the Northlake area?
Please share your thoughts below.

Lots of activity in the Tucker Northlake area. We need it!! Very happy Newks is reopening!!
Anything "Kitchen & Cocktails" will most likely be more tacky flash than substance & service.
You sound miserable
Positive news. It seems for a while the City of Tucker struggled with how to balance the growth of the Northlake area, Main Street and the Hugh Howell/Publix area. Seems like they are seeing some good progress, so let's hope the local residents support the growth they asked for.
What space is between Verizon Wireless and Chick-fil-A in the outparcel of Northlake (Tower) Festival? Are they not right next to one another?
@Anon RE: space,
The space is between CFA and adjacent to Verizon (in the same building) and was previously part of Verizon before they downsized.
Sorry for any confusion.
Thanks for your readership and Happy Holidays!
Great news for Tower Festival.
But big leap from sports bar to one-off upscale seafood in a somewhat hidden location. I'll give Katch a year before closing.
This is not a great addition to the neighborhood.
Wonderful news, we did need seafood restaurant in the area
Not so fresh seafood. Tucker isn’t exactly a coastal city. And with the “supply chain issues”
( except for Covid tests and supplies) I can’t see it being able to get fresh. Fuck all you stupid democratic libtard fuck stains!
I’d love to see a Sprouts come into the previous Publix space.
Best of luck to the above mentioned businesses. Make Tucker proud!!
It would be nice to have a really great vegetarian and/or vegan restaurant options in the Tucker area. Ex: Slutty Vegan. They have other locations in Georgia, Alabama and New York.
The building looks amazing. Looking forward to a new restaurant
I love seafood so looking forward to the new place. Also happy to hear of a new Five Guys and very glad to hear Newk’s is coming back - we love that place and thought it was a great location
Cracker Barrel, Stuckeys, Sweetwater Brewery or Liquid Nation Brewery, Alon’s Bakery, Krispy Kreme, Felini’s Pizza, and a signature restaurant by one of the great chefs of Atlanta. To make any of these happen we need upscale apartment and condominium developments.

Hi there. Was reading all your comments so far and paying serious attention to your opinions, until I came to this part. I don't really know who you are attacking, since I'm not a bit interested in politics and for that reason don't care to vote. I found all your comments well written, and deserving attention... UNTIL I CAME TO THAT PART (above)... what's going on? You had someone actually reading and listening to what you are saying, until it went haywire...
Don't think I'll be reading any more of your comments, for that simple reason.
I am polite, considerate, feel everyone can have an opinion, but I don't believe in violent cussing...it only means you will not listen to me if and when I have an opinion, whatever it may be, if it does not fit in with your opinion/s and political leanings.
We are not savages here. We are a civilized nation. We are supposed to be "the most advanced society", at least we think we are. I am wondering.
Thanks for your erudite and cordial addition to the thread. I hope you get well soon.
Tucker loves seafood. Red Lobster is busy all the time and if this owner has experience in the business, she is sure to be successful! Welcome to Tucker!
Sounds like another gathering place for thugs with a thin veneer of respectability.
Let’s hope it turns out to be a great place for Tucker. We need more options for lunch.
💯
Are you meaning Black people? Your statement is unclear. You should tell us how you really feel.
To more flash than substance.....you should remain within the confines of your mobile home ,that you probably sold the wheels off of, rendering the thing immobile, and play with your cats. Your single, I'm sure and will probably die alone ...anyway , no need for me to have a battle of with an unarmed man.
To more tacky Flash than substance: Another fine example of someone in need of flaunting their ignorance. There is much more that I could add but I see no need in having a battle of wits with an unarmed man. Maybe better That you remain within the confines of your mobile home and eat your hungry man's pilgrim platter.
Ok Mr Know it all 🤡
To "not so fresh" , Im no rocket scientist but seems that the best way to keep "inland served" fish fresh is to flash freeze it immediatly upon being caught.Yep...thats how they do it.
What color are thugs? Ya know, so ill know if i see one, at your trailer park....drinking beer by the dumpster...yelling yeeee hawww.
Verizon gave up square footage to share the building as a whole
If memory serves me correctly, the is building was an eye sore to the community for years and the city nor the community did nothing to the previous owners so they would be required to renovate or demolish it! So i commend whomever purchased it and is remodeling the building so it will make the community look better. As far as what type of people that will be patronizing this establishment is yet to been seen. Let’s give this new business a chance instead of tearing them down before they get a chance to open.
I would like to see a Krispy Kreme, True Food Kitchen, Melting Pot, or a GOOD vegetarian restaurant. I will definitely give the new restaurant a try but I do hope it does not turn into a replica of 656.
I would like to see
Tacos and Tequilas
A good BBQ place
Fresh Start
Fresh Market (way better than Sprouts or Whole Foods)
Souper Jenny's
To anonymous who wrote "Not so fresh seafood. Tucker isn’t exactly a coastal city." Um, Georgia IS a coastal state and Tucker is just four hours or so from Brunswick where a lot of shrimpers are based. Moreover, Tucker is home to Inland Fresh Seafood Corp. which is a major supplier of seafood products to restaurants in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. The Tucker facility is one of the largest and they fly in fish daily. Having performed services for Inland, I can tell you that you actually will not find fresher seafood in a coastal city unless the products come directly from a boat which they don't. And, fish caught at sea is frozen immediately because the boats stay at sea for long periods. It then gets sold to distributers, then restaurants. This works the same in Atlanta as coastal cities. The seafood this restaurant purchases can be as fresh as anything you can get. I'm excited for this restaurant to open and think it is a great addition to Tucker.
I'm really looking forward to Katch (I love seafood) ..... It will be well welcomed in the Tucker community by all...,but most importantly if you do not like the atmosphere please don't come.
Welcome to the neighborhood. I cannot wait to try your lunch options!!
Yeahhh! This is great news. My family and I will definitely support these new businesses.
What is the new building in the parking lot in front of Northlake Macy's?
Given the decor I think it will be a gathering spot for Hennessy swilling ganja smoking thugs
I heard it's a new location for Lenscrafters
OK, Boomer
Looking forward to trying this one. I loved the old days when Chili’s & Olive Garden were there. But… I later became a fine dining manager and long for more around here. I will say, there are place you don’t know about! Try the nice new place at PREP (kitchens) in the office park a little further up Northlake Pkwy. Fine dining …sorry I’m having a brain fart about the name. Also, a new concept running from there ChefRogersKitchen.com You can pre order dinner meals from weekly published menus and take home a fine dining meal for your family. Remarkable food!!! This chef was in the Top 50 in Atlanta and was selected to participate in the SOS charity events. He was an executive chef in midtown & Johns Creek fine dining restaurants. New things all around. As for the person who mentioned another Sprouts, I have always felt like we are so left out from the Trader Joe’s line. Zero close enough to frequent . I love to see one here. And I would passionately love more restaurants. My circle here is small.
Agreed!!! When I was a fine dining GM we always used Inland Seafood. Phenomenal catch!
Why are white people so fragile?
Would love to see Olive Garden back or la Madeline or Breadwinners. Anything farm to table. Fresh deli sandwiches and homemade soups and salads
Awesome idea!@@
A very good Chinese restaurant would be great on Main Street, Tucker
If this thread is for Katch Kitchen and Cocktails in Tucker, when will you be opening
First off I cannot wait till you open!
I have been inside and there is
NOTHING TACKY about this Business, it is Classy and Sheik and I am sure it will Thrive Well!
Katch Kitchen opened up Wednesday, July 27, 2023. My job is around the corner. The building looks great! If I can give other new businesses a chance, I will definitely do the same for this one. Can’t wait to try them out this weekend.
They have definitely put some money into this business.
Strange to have a soft opening at full price, and the price is a bit pricey for the quality of the food. It didn’t taste like the chef has a lot of experience seasoning and working with seafood.
Food was very tasty. Drinks are priced too high for just a small one that wasn't even full. Beautiful decor. Service was good.
Thank you Katch. Visited two days ago with a friend. Very nice decor and friendly service. Looking forward to better drinks and food on our return visit.
Yes it does, I will support!
Facts
Well tell your family members not to attend and they won't have that problem!
That part!
I've been a supporter of 656 in Atlanta since it opened it's doors. The food is to die for, I only hated the service. If the menu at Katch is half as good you Tucker residents definitely will not want to miss out. Atlanta Native
If you haven't been to visit, you should make it a point to do so. Very classy and upscale establishment.
Look like you are wrong buddy
