Nur Kitchen, which closed in early December after opening in 2020, is reopening! The restaurant, located at 7130 Buford Highway in Doraville, plans to reopen soon as a kosher certified establishment. Nur made the announcement Sunday via their official Facebook page. The restaurant will operate under the supervision of the AKC (Atlanta Kosher Commission).
According to the post, the new Nur will feature:
"Authentic food, lovely music, and a cozy place with an amazing atmosphere that reminds of home."
The new restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and will offer "the best shawarma in town." The Nur will celebrate Shabbat every Friday from 12-4pm, with schnitzels in homemade buns after which it will close until sundown Saturday in keeping with kosher requirements.
The move to kosher makes a lot of sense when you consider there are plenty of Mediterranean restaurants in metro Atlanta but far fewer with a kosher menu.
Toco Grill, Formaggio Mio and Chai Peking are all located in Toco Hills while Fuego Mundo is located just off I-285 in Sandy Springs. Tip Top Kosher market is located in nearby Dunwoody but is more a market than a restaurant although it does serve food.
Pita Grille, which served a similar Mediterranean menu to Nur, was popular in Chastain Park despite its subpar location, but ultimately closed in 2020 in the early months of the pandemic.
Are you excited for the return of Nur Kitchen? What is your favorite kosher restaurant in Atlanta? Who do you think makes the best shawarma in Atlanta?

bad location that is not near the community that observes kashrut dietary rules. Good luck.
Quality Kosher on Briarcliff also serves up Kosher food and has for years.
The Kroger kosher deli in Dunwoody sells plenty of kosher food as well.
I agree with above. I hope they can make a go of it, but I don't understand how a kosher restaurant, which will be quite pricey, can survive on that stretch of Buford Highway.
What is the address?

Thanks for your readership!
It’s actually a great location, covering both DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. A lot of kosher food lovers residing or commuting.
It will actually serve fast food, lunch and dinner at an affordable price.
Sounds like an ownership/management response. Identify yourself!
