[EXCLUSIVE] New Whataburger and Chick-fil-A Restaurants Coming to Atlanta Suburb

It's far from what many would consider "metro Atlanta," but another new Whataburger is coming to town.  Real estate materials indicate that new locations of both Whataburger and Chick-fil-A are planned as part of an overall 10 acre development at the northeast corner of Winder Highway and Atlanta Highway in Oakwood, near Flowery Branch.

Atlanta-based Halpern Enterprises is behind the Hall County project which was approved by Oakwood City Council this past May.   The development will encompass seven parcels including 3437 Winder Highway, 3455 Winder Highway and 3471 Winder Highway.   The new project sits across the street from the Publix-anchored Robson Crossing shopping center.

Whataburger opened their first Atlanta area location in Kennesaw this past November. The company has said it plans to add ten more locations to Georgia in 2023, including the recently opened outpost in Woodstock, planned March 23 opening in Buford, and imminent opening in Cumming, followed by others in Monroe, Covington, Athens, Snellville and Dawsonville, among others.  A second Athens location and another planned for Commerce are reportedly still in the cards but have been pushed beyond their previously expected 2023 opening.

ToNeTo Atlanta reported January 4 that Whataburger plans to open in place of an old Steak 'n Shake restaurant on Woodstock Road in Roswell.

The Texas-based chain has "Texas-sized" aspirations of having more than 50 new Whataburger restaurants open in Georgia by 2030.  The restaurants will be a combination of those corporately owned and those franchised by local partner Made to Order Holdings, LLC.

The new Chick-fil-A would replace an existing Chick-fil-A at 3405 Atlanta Highway, situated on a nearly one acre outparcel of Robson Crossing.  The current Chick-fil-A, like many around metro Atlanta, is bursting at the seams and has outgrown its current building which opened in 2000.  The new Chick-fil-A will reportedly be larger and feature a more user-friendly drive-thru.

Are you excited for the opening of new Whataburger and Chick-fil-A restaurants?  Have  you been one of the new Atlanta area Whataburger restaurants?  Where else would you like to see Whataburger open in metro Atlanta?

    2. I can’t wait!!! I have been hoping for so many years Whataburger would come here!! Brookhaven Ga or Chamblee would be awesome! I’m going to Kennesaw today!!! Something closer would be great. Traffic is a nightmare going to Kennesaw. This is such great news. Inside the perimeter anywhere on the north side would be fantastic!
