[EXCLUSIVE] Popular Mall Retailers Opening in Toco Hills

Toco Hills shopping center will soon welcome a pair of surprising new tenants.  According to job postings and updated property materials, J. Crew Factory and Bath & Body Works are opening new stores in the popular intown center.  A representative from center owner Edens at first said she could assist in confirming details only to then state she could make no comment at all.  A representative from J. Crew did not immediately respond to our request.

According to an updated siteplan for Toco Hills, Bath & Body Works will open in suite 560, a roughly 4,000 square foot space to the right of ULTA.   The space was previously home to local eatery Chris' Pizza for nearly four decades before its December 2022 closure.  Bath & Body Works, typically a mall mainstay, previously had stores in nearby Northlake and North DeKalb malls but closed both several years ago. (Edens, who owns Toco Hills, acquired North DeKalb Mall with plans to redevelop it in stages over the next decade or so under the new name "Lulah Hills.")

It's unclear where exactly in the center J. Crew Factory will open but there are several spaces that could fit the bill.  One in particular that makes the most sense is a roughly 3,500 square foot space between Conete's Bike Shop and Ulta.  A job posting for "Store Director - NEW STORE J. Crew Factory - Toco Hills" was posted in June but doesn't specify an exact location.  An employee at another local J. Crew store confirmed the retailer is opening in Toco Hills shopping center.  The new J. Crew Factory store marks the second in an Edens center in metro Atlanta for the traditional outlet and mall-based retailer.  A J. Crew Factory store opened at Merchants Walk in East Cobb this past August marking a return of sorts to the area where the retailer previously operated a full-line J. Crew store at The Avenue years ago.  The Merchants Walk store is 5,740 square feet.

In addition to Bath & Body Works and J. Crew Factory, Toco Hills will in the months to come welcome several other new tenants.  Silla Del Toro, a Spanish tapas eatery from locally owned Fork U Concepts, is expected to open in suite 620, a 3,670 square foot space near the UPS Store.  The restaurant has been "coming soon" for over a year and it's unclear when exactly it will open.

GoodVets, a new to market veterinarian, is also opening in the center.  The new clinic will open in a 2,245 square foot space next to Westside Market.  The new GoodVets will likely be the third to open in metro Atlanta joining existing locations on the Upper Westside and in Dunwoody.  A fourth location is slated to open in the street level of of Interlock Phase 2 on Northside Drive in West Midtown.

Additionally,  Wild Heaven Beer and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q are slated to open a joint location in a hidden space behind Flying Biscuit Cafe.  The concept, announced earlier this summer, will span about 5,200 square feet and is scheduled to open in early 2024.

Are you excited for the upcoming openings planned for Toco Hills?  What former Toco Hills tenant do you miss most?  What mall retailer would you like to see open in Toco Hills?

I shop JCrew Factory a lot for my family so I’m excited by this. While the East Cobb location isn’t far, it will be nice to have one handy to in town shoppers.

Everyone misses the Bagel Palace -shame on the new owners for making them leave.

Masti in the mall, is one of the better Indian restaurants in Atlanta. And very reasonable, too!

I have mixed feelings about all the changes in Toco Hills. Obviously it is a popular center and they have to move forward. I don't go there as much as I used to go. What draws me to it are Ace Hardware, Bagel Place, Liquer Store and Westside Market. I will definitely go to Bath & Body Works too. I miss the old Toco Hills.

Need a banana republic

Only those with $$$$ can afford the rent these dates 😩

Bagels and pastries from the Bagel Palace were quintessential comfort foods, salad and pizza at Chris’ never disappointed nor did anything on the menu at Petite Auberge. Whereas shopping at J. Crew or Bath & Body Works can just as easily be done online.

Bagel Palace was outdated

Even though it was dirty and grimy, I miss the old Famous pub, or at least that concept. Out of curiosity, is Maggie’s still open?? I used to sneak in there when I was in HS (just like everyone else, lol). Those two places were the stomping grounds for me and my friends. I’m excited to hear about Bath and Body Works- it’s one of my favorite stores!

I'll take these changes over an ugly, blighted vacant shopping center. take a drive down Hwy 78 to Stone Mountain (Gwinnett side) to see what I'm talking about.

Maggie’s is definitely still open!

Toco Hills has done amazing upgrades. It is light years better than what it was with the huge ugly Dept of Labor Office, the grimy Famous Pub, and a huge parking lot with no sidewalks for walking. It is so much better than what it was and probably the most vibrant shopping center in Atlanta. Kudos to them for getting a wide variety of restaurants and shops and also landmark local chains like Goldbergs

Their bagels were on point. Better than Goldbergs.

And it’s Toco Hill !!!!!!!!!!

It's Toco Hill not Toco Hills!

The Bagel Palace was so much better than Goldberg’s! Honestly, Westside Market is wayyyy overpriced.. an outdoor/sports store would be a good idea in that space!

Now we need a good shoe store there.

Yes..will always call it TOCO HILL

He/him/them/they/Rotel sir Eli ... It's taco hill not taco hills/tacos bell/taco john/McDonald's ... Who cares! You do you Eli ... We love you either way. Thank you for the article.

Yes, it's TOCO HILL, not plural.

And while we're at it, it's KROGER, not Krogers

We need Trader Joes!!

All these new shops and restaurants are great, but I hope they don't make parking as impossible as it is at Midtown Promenade since they took it upscale. I've stopped going to Trader Joe's because parking is such a nightmare.

I also wish Toco Giant would take a hint from the rest of the center and remodel. That place is so cramped and overstuffed that shopping there is not a pleasure.

Bagel Palace had the best bagels!

Maggie’s is still there.

The new name is dumb.

The biggest travesty is the loss of Bagel Palace.

I agree with LeeAnn. I miss Bagel Palace, Chris’ Pizza, and Petite Auberge too!

I miss the shoe store. They had an amazing selection of Clark’s at great prices.

Excluding the Spanish tapas place, this is the most boring collection of stores/restaurants.

That’s right! We love you even if you’re wrong. After all, that’s the way America is these days. If they like what they hear, who cares if it’s wrong.

I still miss Bagel Palace and am not excited about Bath & Bodyworks at all. Seems like a weird fit for the location, especially with Ulta already there. Strange mix of stores, but I guess a retail store with clothes I may actually wear is kind of exciting. I really wish they would open a TJ Maxx or Homegoods there. Would make my life complete!

Bring back the A&P’s!

I miss the shoe store. It was so convenient. No place in our area like the one we had at Toco Hill!!!

Karishma Khoja said...

We need a dollar store! Or a Trader Joe's

Anonymous said...

YES!!

Anonymous said...

No Dollar Store please!!

Put in a Shoe Dept’s or Carnival’s

Bagel Palace had the best bagels in Atlanta! LL could have offered renovation/downsize, they were a cornerstone in Toco Hills and should have been respected as such in their lease! A terrible loss.

The RUDE WAITRESS Cheryl ran all the customers off at Bagel Palace along with the nasty Owner!! The place was disgustingly nasty! I called the Health Dept. on them several times ! They deserve to be Out If Business!!

So YOU’RE the reason everyone’s favorite bagel store closed. Shame on you for ruining it for everyone.

I won’t go to Maggie’s because they allow smoking inside and it’s bad for my asthma. Such a bummer!

Anonymous said...

If we wanted mall stores we would go to the mall...

Is the Wild Heaven at Toco Hills still going to happen? In WH's announcement, construction was expected in late summer 2023 with opening in early 2024. It doesn't look like there's any construction activity yet.
