[EXCLUSIVE] A New Kind of Gaming Experience is Coming Soon to Atlanta

A growing chain of team-building game centers has Georgia on its mind.  Canada based Activate plans to enter the Atlanta market with a new facility in Chastain Park.  According to the company, they are "Taking entertainment into the future by fusing technology and physical activity together to create live-action gaming experiences."  The new Activate is currently under construction and will open at 4540 Roswell Road, next to Peachtree Bikes.  

The 12,860 square foot space that Activate will occupy has been several things over the years but was most recently home to an outpost of KnuckleUp Fitness.  Prior to KnuckleUp, the space was home to Rite Aid, and before that Eckerd, and originally A&P, a now defunct grocer that at its peak in the 1930s had 15,000 locations nationwide.  

"Activate offers high-tech games that test your team’s physical and mental agility across a wide variety of real-life challenges. Once inside, you and your team choose from hundreds of combinations of games and difficulty levels, each lasting one to three minutes. Your electronic wristband tracks your score and progress throughout your experience making Activate perfect for a casual night out or intense competition."

According to the company's LinkedIn page, Activate started in 2019 and is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  There are currently nine locations spread across Canada and six open in America with several more coming soon.  

U.S. locations are currently open in Chicago (Oak Brook), Dallas (Plano), Gatlinburg, Lexington, Louisville and in East Rutherford, New Jersey at American Dream.  According to job postings, new locations are also in the works for Katy, Texas (a suburb of Houston) and Vestavia Hills, Alabama (a suburb of Birmingham).
