[EXCLUSIVE] City Barbeque Bringing its Barbeque to Buford

A new location of City Barbeque is headed to town.  With three metro Atlanta locations open, one opening this month, and another two on the way, a seventh is coming to Buford.  The new restaurant, planned for 2828 Buford Drive, will be ground-up construction on a cleared lot beside the first phase of neighborhood strip center, Commerce Plaza.  The new City Barbeque will be 3,575 square feet and will occupy suite 800 of the multi-suite project.

Similar to the Snellville restaurant, slated to open August 28, and upcoming restaurants in Woodstock along Highway 92 and McDonough along Jonesboro Road, the Buford restaurant will also feature a drive-thru.  The drive-thru is a relatively new feature for City Barbeque but one that company executives are counting on to drive continued growth of the brand.

Every City Barbeque location has three smokers on site and offers smoked chicken, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and a host of house-made sides and desserts.  The Buford City Barbecue location will be situated beside the upcoming Northside Hospital Buford campus and across the street from the sprawling Fuqua Development-built project, the Exchange@ Gwinnett.

Dublin, Ohio-based City Barbeque entered the Atlanta market with a location along Scott Boulevard in the Sprouts-anchored Decatur Crossing shopping center.  A second opened in Johns Creek/Suwanee in Johns Creek Town Center in 2018, followed by a third at Abernathy Square in Sandy Springs in late 2019.   City Barbeque today operates 67 locations in eight states and in July 2023 was named winner of Nation’s Restaurant News’ Barbecue Showdown, in which seven emerging barbecue restaurant chains competed for the title of readers’ favorite.

Have you been to City Barbeque?  What is your favorite barbecue in metro Atlanta?  What other restaurant would you like to see open in Buford?

Good! We need more new concepts here. If it’s barf, then stay home and eat top ramen and cheetos

We enjoy City BBQ but find it a little pricey for frequent visits.
