[CLOSURE ALERT] Burger Business Bows Out in Brookhaven

Lucky's Burger & Brew has closed its location in Brookhaven.  The family friendly eatery quietly closed last week after nearly ten years in business.  Lucky's occupied suite 1250, a roughly 3,300 square foot space close to Marshalls, Costco and LA Fitness in the expansive TOWN Brookhaven mixed-use development.

Husband and wife owners Ernie and Diane Geyer opened the first Lucky's, named for their Golden Retriever, along Alpharetta Street in Roswell in 2010.  A second location at the Marietta Square Market which debuted in 2019 remains open.  The couple previously closed a location in Emory Village in early 2020 after five years in business.

When Lucky's opened in TOWN Brookhaven, it backfilled the short-lived Slack's Hoagie Shack, an ill-fated expansion of a New Jersey-based chain.

TOWN Brookhaven has had trouble with restaurants surviving in the project with more than a dozen having closed since the development opened in late 2010.  The project did this year welcome new outposts of Mirko Pasta and Costa Coffee.

Are you surprised to see Lucky's close in TOWN Brookhaven?  What restaurant would you like to see open in place of Lucky's in TOWN Brookhaven?  What is your favorite Brookhaven area restaurant?

Please share your thoughts below.

I have visited Town Brookhaven exactly one time. The illogical layout of the parking lot was so confounding, I left without even getting out of my car. Nothing there I can't get somewhere else.

That's a bummer, but to be honest, the quality and variety of burgers has caught up to them and the novelty of being dog-friendly is no longer unique. I am huge fan of Lucky's in Roswell, and probably go there every couple of weeks, but they are definitely no longer the best burger in town.

Parking is really terrible at Town Brookhaven, it is the biggest deterrent to wanting to frequent restaurants there.

I am sad to see Lucky’s at Brookhaven close. I really loved that place. A big part of the problem there is parking, or rather lack of decent parking near the restaurant you want to go to. What a shame.

Tried to go there with a friend a while ago but the music was so loud we could not even visit so we left and never went back.

The sign posted outside Lucky’s said the restaurant was closing due to the lease going up and that they would move to a new location.

I used to love it. Sadly I'm not suprised.

Place was utterly disgusting. Surprised it lasted this long

Sad to see it go. I’m not sure why everyone is blaming parking. That side of the project is next to the Costco parking lot. I never had problem finding parking. Most of the time a spot within a 30 second walk to the restaurant.

We used to meet our daughter there on Tuesdays, but regretfully the quality of food changed so we had stopped going..parking is also an issue..

All of you people complaining about parking are lazy. Do you complain when you have to walk a couple blocks in New York City? Probably not because it's expected. Expansive parking lots next to one's destination are a privilege for spoiled Sunbelt dwellers that do not comprehend life without a car.

The owners/mgmt company running Town Brookhaven are horrible to their tenants. Rent is extremely expensive and not willing to negotiate even with long term tenants. That’s why there are so many empty spaces.

Only ate there once, like 4 years or so ago. The burger was alright, nothing spectacular. The fried pickles were like a major salt bomb. I guess the parking is 'weird' since there is that 'street' that runs in front of all those restaurants, while most of the lot seems like it goes with Costco. Mostly, I go to costco, enter and leaving from Hermance, driving behind the costco. This is the top secret route for getting in and out of there easily.

Horrible owners and management is what did that place in.

I won’t even go there… :-( good riddance

There is plenty of parking. It's like people don't know what to do if they have to Stop at a couple stop signs and walk a couple hundred feet.

Not sure why everyone says parking is an issue? There is parking in the garage and at Costco. The problem was staff and service. Completely went down after COVID.

Agreed. There is plenty of parking. There is a garage next to la fitness

It's a simple main street design with flanking surface and garage parking. How difficult can it possibly be??

I wonder how much the Town Brookhaven owners paid the owner of the Peachtree Garden Apts for the property?

OMG get over yourselves with the parking. Y'all are probably the same people who call young people snowflakes.

Get a gym membership, use the gym at your apartment or condo, AND/OR walk or run laps on the street. Thank God you have legs to be able to walk.

Sad to see it go, I ate there once before the pandemic. There was no shuttle from the parking space in front of the restaurant to the front door, so I used my brain to tell my feet and legs (and arms and body, and I'll form the head, lol! - points to whomever knows what that is from) to walk over to the business.

It's hard dealing with ANYONE these days: customers, employees, delivery drivers, etc. This kind of thing will probably continue to happen unless the people of the area change. TOWN was and is a great idea and I loved the CINEBISTRO when it first opened, perfect for those who don't want to WALK to do anything.

I swear WALL-E was a prophecy come true.

Or you could just get a toilet on wheels and roll in, eat and poop at the same time, then roll out, flushing along the way.

The wall-e commenter is spot on! Lol. I never had issues parking because there's this crazy massive flat dark pavement with a bunch of white painted lines on the ground directly in front of luckys. It's kind of weird but if you use your brain it allows you to park on it and walk to the entrance in less than a minute and for free! Wild right? I think the worst thing to note is the people who are complaining about the parking actually have drivers licenses.
