A local restaurant is looking to find success where several others have failed. New signage confirms that American Deli, an Atlanta-based quick-serve restaurant, has leased the former Mrs. Winner's at 8550 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.
Now, American Deli, which is headquartered just off the Northeast Expressway between Shallowford and Clairmont Roads, will open "in a few weeks," according to an employee at the restaurant.
When Mrs. Winner's first opened it replaced a former Bojangles, which itself had replaced several other unsuccessful restaurants. American Deli, and its approachable and familiar menu offering burgers, subs, salads, gyros, and their famous wings, will look to find success where so many others have failed. Local rappers 2 Chainz and Lil Baby along with Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams, an Alpharetta native, have all publicly expressed their love for the restaurant, especially its wings. [2 Chainz literally has a song called "Hot Wings" filmed at an American Deli.]
American Deli started as a single restaurant in Atlanta in 1989. Today the chain has grown to more than 200 locations spread across eight states, with a presence as far west as California. That said, the majority of the chain's locations are in the south, with Georgia home to more than 100 American Deli units.
The chain in March opened a new location in the Perimeter Mall food court where they replaced the short-lived "Mr. Veg'n."
Have you ever been to American Deli? Do you think American Deli has some of the best wings around? Will American Deli find success where so many other restaurants have struggled?

American Deli is like a hookah bar. When one appears in your neighborhood, you might want to consider moving out soon.
I have lived in Atlanta for 33 years and have never had the occasion to eat at American Deli. I have seen them scattered around, but there has never been one near me when I am hungry and looking for a place to eat. But this new location is close enough to where I may swing by and give them a try.
Did you really just ask if a fast food restaurant has the best wings around? Please...
You should go ahead and move out of the entire state now. You seem to be scared of a restaurant.
I miss La Strada.
I prefer smokes turkey wings baked in stuffing
I wanna try it too. A friend of mine in Duluth raves about it. The reason Bojangles and Mrs. Winners failed there is bc their food sucked. I was hoping for a Popeyes, but it’s probably a good thing they didn’t take the spot. I’d go there too much
Tried GAD new location in Sandy Springs today. Had the turkey ham sandwich and the Italian beef sandwich. Both were bland and offered little flavor. Going to Subway next time.
