[UPDATE] Chicken Salad Chick Looks to Succeed Where Other Chicken Chains Have Failed

Chicken Salad Chick, the popular chicken salad chain which in 2021 moved its headquarters from Auburn, Alabama to metro Atlanta, will soon open its 41st location in Georgia.  According to newly updated signage, Chicken Salad Chick will open a new location just off Highway 92 in Woodstock.

The new Chicken Salad Chick will open in the roughly 3,600 square foot space left vacant this past December when Joella's (188 Molly Lane) finally decided to give up the ghost and closed their last remaining Atlanta area restaurant.

Joella's, a Louisville-based hot chicken chain, previously closed restaurants in Akers Mill Square near Cumberland Mall, in Kennesaw along Barrett Parkway, and along Bullsboro Road in Newnan, all of which later reopened as Whataburger restaurants.  All four buildings were originally constructed as Pollo Tropical restaurants, a Florida-based chain that made an ambitious push into metro Atlanta before closing all of its Georgia locations in late 2018.

Our friends at Scoop OTP first reported on the planned Woodstock opening in late February.

In taking over the former Joella's/Pollo Tropical building, Chicken Salad Chick is gaining an all-important drive-thru, a feature the chain has been prioritizing in recent growth.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported in August 2020 that the chain converted a former Wendy's on Scenic Highway in Snellville.

Chicken Salad Chick already operates several restaurants in Floyd, Cobb, and Bartow counties including units in West Cobb, East Cobb, Kennesaw, Cartersville, and Rome, but Woodstock marks the chain's first unit in Cherokee County.  The Woodstock restaurant will, like others in metro Atlanta, be corporately owned and operated.

Drive-thru access is currently available at 125 or 48% of the chain's 258 overall locations.  This is up from roughly 38% at the end of 2020.

Chicken Salad Chick marks the latest restaurant to open in Woodstock along Highway 92.  Whataburger and Raising Cane's are among the most notable eateries to have opened in the area recently.

Plans call for the new Chicken Salad Chick to debut in late May, potentially as soon as May 22, at which point the restaurant is expected to offer its famous "First 100-style" promotion awarding free food for a year to the first 100 people in line on opening day.

Georgia, with 40 Chicken Salad Chick restaurants open, is now, and will remain for the foreseeable future, the company's largest market by store count.  Overall the chain has 258 locations spread across nineteen states.

Are you excited for the opening of Chicken Salad Chick in Woodstock?  Where else would you like to see Chicken Salad Chick open?  What is your favorite Chicken Salad Chick flavor?

Wish CSC a lot of success. That location is hard to navigate in and out of the parking lot due to traffic on GA 92.

I just had the chicken salad sandwich yesterday and it was delicious.

You can already order a slice of cake at some (all?) locations. I'd imagine the roll out will expand eventually.

Peachtree Corners would love a CSC !!

Peachtree Corners definitely needs a CSC!

Glad to have a CSC in Cherokee County, but it's going to be a traffic nightmare off of Hwy 92 as the parking lot is small and the drive thru lane is very short. Wish Canton needs restaurants and businesses instead of all the apartments being built.

We need some CSC ITP- preferably Decatur!

Best of luck to them, I hate mayonnaise with a passion so I'm still gonna be getting chicken from non-chicken salad restaurants

Chicken salad cbik has a good product however even with all the flavors, it gets boring really quick. I wish they would carry egg salad, tuna salad, shrimp, salad, potato salad, etc. etc..

Scott Deviney the CEO once owned several Wendy’s which he mismanaged and either ended up selling or closing. The scenic hwy CSC was one of his Wendy’s that he shuttered. I wouldn’t trust him. He’ll end up destroying this company in a few years.
