[UPDATE] Roswell Loses One Eatery But is Gaining One of Michelin's "Recommended Restaurants"

Roswell recently lost one restaurant but will soon gain another.  12 Lunar Eatery, an Asian restaurant that opened last year, has closed.  Separately,  LanZhou Ramen is opening a new location in another space nearby.

12 Lunar celebrated its Grand Opening on September 6, 2023, at 850 Mansell Road but has already closed.  The restaurant, which reportedly closed sometime between the end of July and the beginning of August, replaced Del Taco, which itself lasted only nine months in business before it closed in September 2019.  Before Del Taco, the freestanding building was home to The Counter, a burger spot, and before that was a bank.

Shortly after taking over the former Roswell Del Taco, the local Asian restaurant group also took over the former Del Taco on Buford Drive in Buford.

In recent months, the Roswell location (the business, not the real estate) was listed for sale with local brokerage The Shumacher Group.  The listing currently shows that it is "Under Contract."

Signage at the restaurant indicates that the Buford location is remaining open and that a new location is coming soon to Mount Zion Boulevard in Morrow.

In happier news, LanZhou Ramen is opening at 1055 Mansell Road in the same center as where Hero Boy Sandwich Company opened its debut location this past September.  The popular ramen spot, which last year received a coveted "Recommended Restaurants" inclusion by the Michelin Guide, currently has two locations: the original in Buford Highway's Pinetree Plaza in Doraville and a second that opened in late 2020 near Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw.  (The Kennesaw restaurant is officially known as 3+3 LanZhou Ramen.)

Fu Li Zhang and Rachel Yuan opened the original location in 2017.

The Roswell restaurant will open in place of Salad Express, a local build-your-own salad shop that closed in the space previously.  Additionally, signage at the restaurant indicates that sushi will be added to the menu offerings of the Roswell restaurant.

LanZhou is both the name of a Chinese city and the type of hand-pulled noodle that is the restaurant's main attraction. The noodles are available in hearty soups with a variety of proteins, and also come broth-less.  The menu also features other Sichuan-leaning dishes such as fried pot stickers and roast duck.

When ToNeTo Atlanta stopped by the space last week, we observed evening weekend work underway indicating that the owners are full steam ahead in working to open ASAP.

Are you excited about the opening of LanZhou in Roswell?  Did you realize that 12 Lunar had already closed?  What other types of restaurant would you like to see open in Roswell?

We ate here shortly after it opened last year. The food quality was ok but nothing to write home about. The location kind of sucks with limited parking.

We've ordered from 3+3 LanZhou many times. They have very good soup dumplings, buns, salt/pepper chicken, etc. They have the best dim sum options around.
FYI: their ramen is not the same as Japanese ramen. It's a Szechuan style with cumin.
