[EXCLUSIVE] "Bite More" to Open in Place of Recess in Buckhead

"Vegetable centric, fine-casual" restaurant Recess has closed its Buckhead restaurant.  Located in the street level retail space of the Hanover Buckhead Village high-rise apartment building (3150 Roswell Road, unit #A1), Recess opened in October 2022 in place of original tenant Cafe Posh which had itself closed in August 2020.

Recess had in recent months operated under unpredictable hours and closed in mid-July, saying at the time it was only temporarily closed for "summer hours" when, in fact, the business was sold July 17, according to the new owners.

Recess is led by CEO Erik Göranson and is the creation of an idea from Göranson, Castellucci Hospitality Group President and CEO Fred Castellucci, and co-founder of hospitality software venture Gather, Nick Miller.  Sibling...err, "cousin" restaurant The Iberian Pig remains open at Hanover Buckhead Village, as does the original Recess at Krog Street Market, which first debuted in February 2018.

In place of the roughly 1,400 square foot Recess Buckhead, Prerak "Prince" Patel plans to open a new restaurant called "Bite More."  Patel, an existing franchisee of Talkin' Tacos which opened this past September in nearby Buckhead Crossing, hatched the idea for Bite More as a way to both offer a wider range of food and create a brand he himself could grow rather than continuing to franchise other peoples' brands.

According to the Bite More website, the fast-casual restaurant offers chicken wings with assorted sauces, dry rubs and "exotic sauces" like Caribbean Jerk and Mango Chili. Also offered are crispy and grilled chicken sandwiches, a crispy mushroom sandwich, crispy salmon sandwich, pastas, salads and more.  Dessert options include a banana pudding cannoli, fried Oreo, and churro bites.  Beer and wine will also be available.

“Coffee Man @ Recess” pop-up – operated by Atlanta-based Coffee Man, which offered coffee and cold brew crafted with fruits and spices, also closed, and while Bite More will be lunch and dinner for now, the owner reportedly plans to add breakfast hours and offerings in the coming months.

For now, the restaurant will be open from 11am until 10pm seven days a week, with plans to also add late-night hours on Friday and Saturday nights.

A second location is reportedly also being considered for a suburban location like Alpharetta.

Rashad Harris, the restaurant's General Manager, tells ToNeTo Atlanta the plan is to be open no later than the end of September.

Are you surprised that Recess failed in Buckhead?  What is your favorite type of fast casual restaurant?  Does the idea of Bite More excite you?

I live down the street and this is way more up my alley for food. Especially being able to get something quick in the area. Looking forward to trying it out.

Bite More? Name doesn't sound appealing. I give it 10 months

Okay.... I can tell you right now, a place called "bite more" will never make it. Lord.

With a name like that, it would do really well in Midtown though.

I think it would do really well in Duluth

There's not enough foot traffic in that area to justify the rent. I give it a year. Until Buckhead gets the crime and homelessness under control it will continue to be a ghost town.

I think it should be in Duluth or Norcross. Nothing but 100% crime free and all white neighborhoods there! Yay!!! I hate ITP because they don’t look just like me!
Love,
Racism.

Fulton County and City of Atlanta in particular have the worst income inequality and segregation in all of the metro area. Duluth and Norcross are much more diverse racially and socioeconomically. Hell, even Forsyth is more diverse than ITP now.

so you assumed that the above poster's reference to crime and homelessness was referring to black people? Who's the racist here?
