Trader Joe's in Chastain Market |
The new Halcyon store, 6365 Halcyon Way, is slated to open Friday, December 13, according to a source familiar with the grocer's plans. The new store joins other recent additions to Phase 2 of the Alpharetta mixed-use development including Chick-fil-A, The Forum Athletic Club, and Dogtopia.
Monrovia, California-based Trader Joe's opened its first stores in metro Atlanta in October 2006. Today the company operates six stores in metro Atlanta: Midtown, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Peachtree Corners, and East Cobb, with a seventh Georgia store in Athens which opened in late 2010.
ToNeTo Atlanta first reported this past December that Trader Joe's was looking to add as many as six new stores to the greater metro Atlanta area. In the months since, we have shared that the beloved grocer is opening the aforementioned stores in Chastain Park and Alpharetta, but also stores in Johns Creek, Peachtree City, and Decatur, too.
ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in September that the Johns Creek store is coming to Medley, a new mixed-use project off McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek. The Decatur store is being planned as part of a larger development by Pope & Land along Commerce Drive where it would replace, among other things, the former "Baby" Kroger. The development, originally by Atlanta-based Stein Investment Group, is still in the planning stages, and while Trader Joe's wants to be there, a deal is not yet done, and could still fall apart, according to sources familiar with the project.

Trader Joe's nearing completion at Halcyon |
We have recently received confirmation of the location and timing of the Peachtree City Trader Joe's store and will be sharing that news via our publishing partner The City Menus in the days to come.
The company is reportedly also scouting "intown" Atlanta for one more store but after at least two failed efforts at would-be sites, there is reportedly nothing confirmed at this point.
Not to say that it definitely won't happen but we have heard zero chatter of a Trader Joe's in Tucker, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Lawrenceville, Buford, Cartersville, Reynoldstown, Doraville, Chamblee, Stockbridge, Carrollton, Acworth, Stone Mountain, Avondale Estates, Stone Mountain, Clarkston, South Fulton, College Park, Hapeville or Villa Rica.
Are you excited for the openings of the upcoming Trader Joe's in Chastain Park and Alpharetta? What potential upcoming Trader Joe's store are you most excited about? What is your favorite Trader Joe's item?
Please share your thoughts below.
Looking forward to the Chastain opening although I'm not really a frozen food buyer. I do like their peanut butter and Wisconsin Kringle! Sounds like the closest (to me) proposed location in Decatur is unfortunately years away.
ReplyDeletePlease put one in Woodstock, Ga.
DeleteI moved from Roswell to Gainesville. I know many people have commented on the Gainesville community page, that many people would love a Trader Joe’s in Gainesville. The downtown historic part is fast growing, and would be perfect! Especially with the hospital walking distance from there as well.
DeleteWest end, Adair Park would love a trader Joe's. Shoot we'd take Hapeville. Anything closer to SW atlanta! It's growing like crazy
DeleteYes Gainesville GA location!!!
DeleteGainesville has thus far only rated a couple of Aldi's, but we can't seem to score a TJ's, even with a population here in the city and county of over 200,000!
DeleteWe need one in Canton GA
DeleteYes, Cherokee county, please
DeleteNeed one in Canto Ga or close to it!!!!!!!!
DeletePlease open in Woodstock ❗️
DeleteNeed one in Canton!
DeletePeachtree City will be a profitable store for Trader Joe. Considering the amount of shoplifting I saw at Sams on Mt Industrial, I would not consider any business in Dekalb or Decatur.
DeleteCan't wait until the PTC store opens!!
DeleteNeed one in Kennesaw
DeleteCanton, Woodstock, anywhere in Cherokee County would be amazing!! There are so many new shopping centers being developed that would be perfect for a trader joes!
DeleteI wish they'd put one in the Cumberland area.
ReplyDeleteAmen
DeleteYes!!!!!
DeleteYes!!! Smyrna/cumberland area please!
DeleteSince they refused W Cobb and we got a Sprouts instead, I would love a Cumberland location. It would be a bit easier than the traffic heavy drive to east Cobb!
DeleteAny plan to open one in Newnan or PeachTree City??? We need one South of the airport area.
DeleteSmyrna / Vinings / Cumberland would be a great area.
DeleteWe have to drive so far from Lawrenceville to go to Trader Joe’s. Looks like some of the newer ones are going close to existing ones. They need to spread them out more.
ReplyDeleteYes. How about south of the airport, Peachtree City 💕
DeleteI second that motion....
DeleteGwinnett County needs one ASAP!!!
DeleteOkay I third so it’s a done deal
DeletePlease! Please place them further away from each other. Needed areas are in Snellville / Henry County /Conyers
DeleteLooking for to the Chastain location but I'm lucky in that Chastain, Sandy Springs and Forum locations are all within 10 miles from my house. I typically go to Sandy Springs location the most.
ReplyDelete"Chastain Park"? A grocery store inside a city park???
ReplyDeleteNo it’s at 4600 Roswell Rd where the old Sprouts use to be
DeleteNeed one in Smyrna / Vinings or West Cobb
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes!!!!
DeleteI second that
DeleteInsulting that they are getting second locations before we get our first.
Delete💯
DeleteWe need one in Decatur!!!!!
DeleteYes please!
DeleteWhat about in the old Michaels location at Piedmont and Sidney Marcus?
ReplyDeleteThey need one in northern Gwinnett. Currently all the people in Suwanee, Buford, Sugar Hill, Dacula, Hoschton, Lawrenceville, Duluth are driving down to Peachtree Corners.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of retired people in the Braselton/Hoschton area with expendable dollars & we love to eat. I will not go into Atlanta area….too much traffic. Please place one up north off/close to I-85 to serve all 40 + miles out of north ATL
DeleteSouth Atlanta (College Park, Cascade, East Point)? We love Traders Joes over here as well!
ReplyDeleteYes!!!
DeleteToo many black people. The area doesn’t meet their “requirements”
DeleteAnd that’s a real feeling and assessment. Where is the Trader Joe’s in the black areas of town? I need answers.
Delete@Anon@ 2:27PM - There's one literally down the road on Peachtree. While Publix may locate a couple of miles from another store, TJs does not.
ReplyDeleteLiterally I know that, I shopped there. Eli mentioned this as a possibility before. They could also move there, parking would be much better. I know what TJ does and Publix does. Literally.
DeleteThe addition of a Trader Joe’s coming to Peachtree City would be a massive WIN for all of PTC, its local golf cart nation and ALL surrounds areas that will welcome you TJ’s with open arms!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news that one is planned for Peachtree City! Finally! Hard to get things on the south side!
DeleteStop putting everything in Metro Atlanta and North Atlanta. There are plenty of customers south of the city that deserves a TJ as well. Quite frankly since we do commute north to shop we contribute to the annual sales. But the traffic is horrendous now. Not fair to south metro Atlanta. Options.. Peachtree City, Newnan, Sharpsburg, South Fulton..
ReplyDeleteWarner Robins! Tifton! Those are south of Atlanta.
DeleteStop putting stores where they'll make money. They put stores where the money is. Seems to be working.
DeleteWe would be happy to have one South of Atlanta in Newnan.. Ashley Park have plenty of space and need new stores
DeleteThis article says one is slated for Peachtree City!
DeleteWould be SO EXCITED to have one on the south side in PEACHTREE CITY!!
ReplyDeletePeachtree City definitely!!
ReplyDeleteOne should be in the Sharpsburg Newnan, Peachtree city or Fayetteville area’s
ReplyDeleteIn the Costco, Sam’s area in Sharpsburg. We’d be there every day
DeleteSouth metro Atlanta (Fayette/Coweta Counties) deserves a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!!
DeleteAgreed!!! Newnan/PeachTree City
DeletePeachtree City!! Can’t wait for this one to open so we don’t have to drive to ATL to shop at the one closest to us in Fayetteville!
ReplyDeleteI’m excited for the one yall say is coming to PTC!!!
ReplyDelete70% of their food is processed and ultra processed. FDA recalls almost every wedn
ReplyDeleteSo excited about PEACHTREE CITY!!!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Peachtree City Loves Trader Joe’s !!
ReplyDeleteWould be excited if coming to Peachtree City or close to PTC
ReplyDeleteHalycon. We can’t wait!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWill the Chastain location have fresh flowers ?
ReplyDeleteSmyrna!
ReplyDeleteI am fortunate to live close to the Peachtree Corners location! Just tried something new from TJ’s…corn bread crisps (think pita chip). Yummy! Great to eat as a snack or with soups or chili.
ReplyDeleteThey have good lettuce. I just tried it and wow! Plain!!
DeleteYou've gotta be kidding me. We're out here waiting for one in Smyrna forever (the "Marietta" one is 30 minutes away) and they put a SECOND ONE in both Sandy Springs AND Alpharetta?
ReplyDeleteTJ the West side of Atlanta needs you. We know you prefer to look at financial markets with income values BUT most drive over 1hr to get products. Let’s turn the page and spread out to other locations. Douglasville, Hiram, Villa Rica, etc are also building mixed use communities so we will welcome you with open arms! We are growing!
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why you will not come to Smyrna Vinings area. It is highly populated. We have to drive either all the way to Buckhead and never find a parking spot or Sandy Springs, which is very far we have done many petitions in this area to get a Trader Joe’s but instead, you open up on a Chastain Park, which is right near Sandy Springs store. Makes no sense please bring one to us.
ReplyDeleteLawrenceville or Buford would be amazing and closer to us. The frozen Indian entrees are the family favorite!
ReplyDeletePlease we need one in Stockbridge or McDonough GA !! There is a Big Costco just built 3 months ago on Jodeco Rd , and a huge land waiting to be built around it .
ReplyDeleteThere is no Trader Joe’s around us for 30 miles . Thank you
That Costco wasn’t built 3 months ago it been a year now get your facts right
DeleteThe facts of life are all about you! It takes a lot to get ‘em right.
DeletePut one by Cumberland Mall. In Smyrna. We want it! I hope you read this and do what we all are saying. After all this is how companies decide where to put stores! We know it.
ReplyDeleteWe would love to have Trader Joe’s come to Woodstock/Acworth area.
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait for Alpharetta and John’s creek OR are they one and the same? Sorry I’m confused.
ReplyDeleteAlpharetta: Halcyon
DeleteJohns Creek: Medley
Reading is fundamental.
Avalon. Dummy
DeleteWhat do we have to do to get one on the Southside of Atlanta! If I want to go to TJ’s I have to drive to Sandy Springs or Johnson Ferry which is a pain with Northside traffic and roadwork!!
ReplyDeleteAlpharetta and Johns Creed…awesome and thank you!
ReplyDeleteHow about the Canton/Woodstock area?
ReplyDeleteYes, PLEASE! Especially Canton needs a TJs
DeletePlease, please, please think of West Cobb, Hiram, Dallas. We NEED you!
ReplyDeleteThey need one in Lawrenceville/Snellville area. I have to drive so far to go to Trader Joe’s. Sandy Springs and Alpharetta already have Trader Joe’s nearby. Why would they even need new stores built there?
ReplyDeletePlease, please, please open one near the Mall of Georgia.
ReplyDeletePlease please please please please please please please open one in my garage.
DeleteBuford
ReplyDeleteWhat about Marrietta and Kennesaw, better demos than a lot of the store locations mentioned in the article and there are no stores to service the northwest area.
ReplyDeleteThere is already a Trader Joe’s in Marietta Ga on Johnson ferry road!
DeleteSmyrna Vinings & beyond there is not one & there are 2 sprouts.
I can’t stand sprouts! Not the same as Trader Joe’s!
We drive 40 mins to go to a Trader Joe’s each way!
Augusta needs a Trader Joe’s really bad.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading all the comments of people begging to have a sub par grocery store located near them.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for Dunwoody
ReplyDeleteGreat news about the proposed opening of Trader’s Joe in or near Peachtree City - a great location and will make many customers very very happy.
ReplyDeleteShould add one in Braselton across from Chateau Elan when the Publix moves to the new location.
ReplyDeleteI had heard that Braselton was in the works! Disappointed to not see it mentioned here
DeleteWhat will be the closest one to Chamblee ???
ReplyDeleteResidents in Canton have been begging for a Trader Joe's to open in CANTON. It would be a perfect location to serve Blue Ridge, Elijay, Jasper, Ball Ground, Canton, Holly Springs, Woodstock, Cartersville, Rome and Calhoun.
ReplyDeleteYES…please consider Canton
DeleteHave been hoping for a Decatur store for a loooong time! Live in Tucker, but am in Decatur regularly, and a Decatur store would definitely be the only one I could get to very often.
ReplyDeletePlease…Decatur!
ReplyDeleteAcworth, Kennesaw, or Dallas!!
ReplyDeleteWe have been driving 40 minutes each way when the traffic isn’t bad! Please come out to Smyrna, Vinings, Cumberland area. We don’t like sprouts & there is 2 of them. If there is enough business for 2 sprouts locations then you should look at the area. I don’t know one person that even goes to sprouts. We all want Trader Joe’s! I’ve been to sprouts 2 times in 30 years! We drive to go to Trader Joe’s every week! I know our fb groups have been petitioning to get a Trader Joe’s in our area for years!
ReplyDeleteSo many of my friends and neighbors are praying for a TJ in Canton. Please consider this location
ReplyDeleteTucker please! Or Decatur second choice
ReplyDeletewhat about Newnan we would like to see T j here
ReplyDeletePlease TJs, come to the Vinings/Symrna/Cumberland area!!! I drive weekly to the Sandy Springs/Buckhead locations, but know that you guys absolutely have the customer base for this area as well!
ReplyDeleteNo, not excited about having to drive through or to Atlanta to go to a Trader Joe’s. We need one on the south side of Atlanta. But they don’t listen to us.
ReplyDeleteI know when they read this they just laugh and talk about how stupid people are who want them to do things. They read this all the time when they want to know where to put their next stores, and when they want a good laugh at how people think they know everything. Laugh and laugh and they don’t listen.
DeleteWe need a TJ’s in Cartersville GA.
ReplyDeleteThey really should put a store down south, like Henry County. Sprouts is opening this month in McDonough and Trader Joe's would be a great addition. All of their stores are too far north.
ReplyDeleteCochran or Macon will be good. We need in Macon.
DeleteDawsonville, GA needs a Trader Joe’s.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe none located in Kennesaw-Town Center-Acworth area to date. The parking lot and store at Whole Foods in the area is always bustling with activity since it opened. We need variety - some things I like at WF, and others I prefer from Trader Joe's. I love both stores, however.
ReplyDeleteWe need one in/near Hapeville BADLY!! I beg! The closest one is Midtown and so many people have to go to that one that there is never anything in stock and it's always chaos - makes it such a bad experience. There are zero TJs below I-20 and no plans to have anything nearby. South Atlanta deserves one - it would be flooded every day!
