CraveWell Juicery & Cafe has closed its Sandy Springs cafe after less than a year in business. The eatery, located at The Morgan Sandy Springs (formerly Modera Sandy Springs), a midrise apartment community at 6125 Roswell Road, opened this past February, and closed quietly about two weeks ago, according to sources in the area.
Clean Juice, based in Charlotte, had more than 100 locations at the time, whereas CraveWell, based in Charleston, was comprised entirely of six former Clean Juice locations.
As you might imagine, Clean Juice was none too pleased to see multiple franchisees flee the brand and open a "copycat" business, so they sued them. Former Clean Juice franchisees and CraveWell executives in Charleston and Philadelphia were named in the suit, but Wilson was not.
Following the Sandy Springs closure, there are just two CraveWell Cafe locations still open, including one in the Upper Westside and another in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
No reason was given for the Sandy Springs closure, but the location likely suffered from several issues including limited awareness of the CraveWell name, limited visibility from Roswell Road (it was physically located on Denmark Drive) and limited nearby parking. Based on our visit a few weeks ago, there may also have been an insect problem, judging from the cockroaches we observed in the bathroom and the dining area.
The 1,295 square foot space is not yet being marketed by The Shopping Center Group (TSCG) who handles leasing for the project, but likely will be soon.
Are you surprised to see CraveWell Cafe close in Sandy Springs? Did you ever dine at CraveWell Cafe? What would you like to see open in place of CraveWell Cafe in Sandy Springs?
