Another day, another Arby's closure in metro Atlanta. This time, it's the Arby's at 5160 Windward Parkway in Milton. ToNeTo Atlanta readers suggest that the restaurant closed quietly earlier this week without advance warning to patrons.
Arby's, owned by Sandy Springs-based Inspire Brands, has seen several metro Atlanta units close in recent years, including those in Roswell, Alpharetta, Buford, Sandy Springs, Downtown Atlanta, Buckhead (Chastain Park), and Suwanee.
In years past, Arby's have also closed on Spring Street in Midtown, Vaughn Road in Kennesaw, South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta, and LaVista Road in Tucker, as well as locations in Northlake Mall in Tucker and Lenox Square in Buckhead, among others.
The chain's challenges are not exclusive to Atlanta.
A legacy Arby's on Sunset Boulevard, complete with a huge illuminated version of the brand's iconic 10 gallon hat, closed last June after 55 years in business. Also last June, Miracle Restaurant Group, an Arby's franchisee with 25 units in five states, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time since 2010, citing financial pressures, rising costs, and negative same-store sales, among other issues.
In metro Atlanta, many former Arby's have gone on to welcome new tenants, including restaurants, but also medical and banking users too.
Former Arby's in Alpharetta and Sandy Springs were renovated into new Chipotle restaurants, while one in Roswell became a Fifth Third Bank. An Arby's near the Mall of Georgia in Buford was demolished and rebuilt as a Raising Cane's, while the former Lawrenceville unit on Sugarloaf Parkway recently opened as a new Yeero Village.
A former Arby's just off Cobb Parkway on Vaughn Road in Kennesaw reopened in 2022 as a location of MINT dentistry, but has since closed.
ToNeTo Atlanta reported this past October that Arby's closed its longstanding restaurant on Roswell and Wieuca Roads in Chastain Park. We heard then and continue to hear that a non-restaurant user is looking to occupy the property, but a lease has not yet been finalized.
Despite all the closures, the company and its franchisees continue to operate about 3,400 restaurants worldwide. Remaining Atlanta area units include those on North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta, Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs, Piedmont Road near Lindbergh, Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, and Howell Mill Road in West Midtown.
Are you surprised to see Arby's close in Milton? What would you like to see open in place of Arby's in Milton?

The Milton location was a horrible location for a fast food restaurant that relies on easy and fast access. That location was practically hidden from view on both Windward Parkway and Hwy 9. Unless you knew it was there, you wouldn’t see it as you drove by.
ReplyDeleteAdd to the recent price increases and the fact that people are looking for healthier options, it doesn’t surprise me the amount of business wasn’t there to sustain that location.
Sorry to see Arby's struggle, they've always been a favorite of mine. And I'll take their crispy chicken sandwich any day over CFA.
ReplyDeleteSadly, Arby's has gone the way of many fast-food restaurants. Increasing prices and decreasing customer service.
ReplyDeletemystery meat and crappy yoo noe wat ‘workers’ caused many of Arby’s closures….They were great 15-20 years ago,
ReplyDeleteWhy not just say what you mean instead of “yoo noe wat?” If you want to say it then own it.
DeleteSorry to see it close.
ReplyDeleteHard to find it, and traffic is a real pain during the day.
My only reason to be on Windward is Costco for fuel early in morning.
Good luck to the employees on seeking employment.
This is so unfortunate. Another casualty of Joe Bidens presidency is all these businesses closing. Hopefully with President Trump we can get the economy rolling again soon
ReplyDeleteBiden/Trump have nothing to do with this. But you're probably a product of a government education so nobody's surprised by your idiotic viewpoint.
DeleteBlaming Biden for the closure of Arby's of all things is certainly a choice, but then again bait used to be believable.
DeleteI've always had good experiences at Arby's. I like their "mystery meat" roast beef sandwich and also their curly fries. The employees are usually way better than other fast food restaurants.
ReplyDeleteArby's needs to bring back the Happy Hour 2-5pm. I forget about them now.
ReplyDeleteThe 5 for $5 was the best, but that's gone forever.

Out of the last 11 recessions since 1953, 10 of them have been under Republican presidents. Wonder why the economy thrives under Democrat Presidents but the opposite happens under Republicans? One cares about Billionaires, the other about the average citizen.
Under which President did Arby’s sell the most curly fries and beef ‘n cheddars? Do you know that?
