A new location of Ted's Montana Grill is being planned for Marietta. The new restaurant would be constructed in "Goldstein Gap," a roughly .13 acre parcel in the Marietta Square. The property was previously home to The Cuthbertson Building but has been vacant since the building was razed in 2010.
(Note: Chalktoberfest, a free outdoor festival featuring chalk artists from around the country, takes over the Marietta Square October 11th and 12th.)
The Marietta Historic Board of Review unanimously approved the proposal wherein Ted's plans to construct a 4,311 square foot single-story restaurant that will be 33 feet tall in the front to give the appearance of being two-stories to match neighboring structures including the historic Strand Theatre.
The casual restaurant chain was started by CNN founder and former Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner and LongHorn Steakhouse founder George McKerrow Jr. in 2002. The chain had grown to 55 units as of 2010. Today, the chain includes 38 locations across sixteen states, with Georgia and its eleven units already the chain's largest market by store count.
Cobb County and its three locations (Kennesaw, East Cobb, and West Cobb) is already home to the most Ted's units in the state. The company previously closed two other Cobb County units on the East West Connector in Austell more than a decade ago and at Cumberland Mall during the pandemic in 2020.
Another new Ted's Montana Grill is coming to Beechwood shopping center on Alps Road in Athens.
