[EXCLUSIVE] YETI to Open First Retail Store in Atlanta

Hydration and insulation products producer YETI plans to open their first Atlanta area retail store at The Krog District in Inman Park.  The new store will span about 4,800 square feet, according to a permit recently filed with the City of Atlanta.
ToNeTo Atlanta first heard of the possible new store earlier this spring, but only recently were we able to confirm that a lease was executed with the Austin-based retailer.  The new YETI store will open in place of the former Outdoor Voices shop in addition to adjacent vacant space.  Athleisure wear retailer Outdoor Voices closed in the development last March, amidst a corporate restructuring that led to the closure of all retail stores.

YETI was established in Austin in 2006 by brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders.  The company (NYSE:YETI) went public in October 2018 at $18 a share.  The stock reached a high of about $109 in November 2021 but today trades at about $35.

The company is most known for their tumblers and coolers, but the brand has expanded into other drinkware items as well as backpacks, luggage, dog bowls, and limited apparel for men and women.

According to the YETI website, the company currently operates 26 stores around the country, including regional stores in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Charleston.  The company's products are also carried in countless retail stores, from local stores like High Country Outfitters to chains like Ace Hardware, Dick's Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, and REI.

Despite the crowded hydration device market (Hydro Flask, Corksicle, Stanley, RTIC, etc.) YETI has made a name for itself for not only its "affordable" individual tumblers and cups, but also for their large coolers that can cost as much as $1,500 for a "Tundra 350" capable of storing 549 cans (only).

The company also made headlines last summer when it partnered with canned water company Liquid Death on a "Casket Cooler" that was sold at auction.  After receiving 810 bids, it sold for $68,200!

Are you pleased to see YETI opening an Atlanta store?  Are you a fan of YETI products?  What retailer would you most like to see open in metro Atlanta?
