[ALERT] Books A Million to Debut New Sandy Springs Store in December

Books-A-Million (BAM) will celebrate in December the grand opening of its newest Atlanta-area store near Chastain Park in Sandy Springs.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported this past May that the Birmingham-based retailer was joining the new store Trader Joe's at Chastain Market (4600 Roswell Road), where both stores occupy what was originally a Sprouts Farmers Market.  

The BAM store is about 11,000 square feet and marks the first new bookstore in the area in several years, and the first Books-A-Million inside the perimeter ever.

The new store will celebrate its Grand Opening on Friday, December 5 with a celebratory ribbon cutting in partnership with the Greater Perimeter Chamber.  

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported October 7 that Three Dollar Cafe will early next year relocate its existing Chastain Park area restaurant to the former Snooze in Chastain Market.  

Books-A-Million currently operates more than 250 stores around the country including Georgia stores in McDonough, Canton, Douglasville (Arbor Place Mall), and Lawrenceville (Sugarloaf Mills).  A store at The Avenue in Peachtree City closed this past January, but reopened in April in nearby Westpark Walk, where it replaced a former Tuesday Morning.  Coincidentally, the bookseller's former space in The Avenue reopened October 27 as a new Trader Joe's.    

The Books-A-Million of today is reminiscent of the Media Play of yesteryear, with plenty of books, but also magazines, manga, collectibles, toys, technology, and gifts, too.  Books-A-Million started in 1917 and went public in 1992.   In December 2015, the company was acquired by its chairman, Clyde B. Anderson and his family for $21 million.  

In addition to its namesake brand, Books-A-Million also operates 2nd & Charles, which primarily focuses on used media and collectibles, with Atlanta area locations in Kennesaw and Roswell plus another in Columbus.
