About three months after its closure at The Gallery at South DeKalb after more than five decades in business, Piccadilly Cafeteria is returning to Decatur with a new restaurant!
The new Piccadilly To Go will be located at 2682 Candler Road, basically across the street from the former location at the South DeKalb Mall where the restaurant was a tenant for 54 years. DeKalb County property records indicate that the building measures about 3,200 square feet and was built in 1998.
The former Burger King property provides the restaurant not only its own building and dedicated parking, but a drive-thru, the first in the company's more than 80 year history.
According to a post to the restaurant's Facebook page, the new location will offer undisclosed "BOGO deals ALL DAY," on opening day.
Established in Baton Rouge in 194, Piccadilly today includes 28 locations across Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, and Virginia.
The company's presence in metro Atlanta has shrunk over the past decade or so with closures of restaurants on North Druid Hills Road in Brookhaven, Howell Mill Road on the edge of Buckhead, Highway 138 in Conyers, Piedmont Avenue in Midtown, North Decatur Road in Decatur, and Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, among others.
That said, the company continues to operate six locations in Georgia: Cobb Parkway in Marietta, Northlake Parkway in Tucker, GA-138 in Stockbridge, Greenbriar Shopping Center in Southwest Atlanta near Greenbriar Mall, Godby Road in College Park, and Glynn Street in Fayetteville.
Are you pleased to see Piccadilly Cafeteria return to south DeKalb county? What is your favorite cafeteria in metro Atlanta? If Piccadilly expands their "To Go" format, where would you like to see them open next?

Wish they had one in Newnan !
ReplyDeleteWish they had one in Grayson Ga. near SnellvilleGa
DeleteWill they have the Dilly Plate? Fried fish and tartar sauce, broccoli cheese rice casserole, bread and chocolate pie!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they are growing! Hope they do very well!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for for a BOGO on a congealed salad. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that they are putting a Piccadilly back on candler road because candler road is booming and Piccadilly walls too I love Piccadilly
ReplyDeleteI really miss the North Druid Hills location. Of course, it is sort of hard to hate on a children's hospital, so I guess it was a win.
ReplyDeleteSort of defeats the whole purpose of a cafeteria.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it really does. I agree with you.
DeleteThe mac and cheese used to me one of my favs back in the day, and I stopped going because the recipe changed. I wonder how this one will serve their mac & cheese, fried chicken, and other staples?
ReplyDeleteI can’t wait! And now to have the luxury of eating it at home. Same food, my own comfy couch & tv.
ReplyDeleteI will be there . Things are changing so much today so let’s give this try.

DeleteWell my husband and I didn’t have that good experience with you guys today. My chicken was raw robbery the beans and the chicken and the turnips no seasoning at all I was disciplined
ReplyDeleteIs it even open yet? And why would you be disciplined? Did they spank you at the restaurant? Why?
Deletei heard it’s trash
ReplyDeleteI love trash
DeleteAnything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything rotten or ragged or rusty
Yes I love trash
Wish the cafeterias would come back to the malls. I think at one time there was one in Perimeter but they got kicked out years ago when the mall wanted to go more "upscale"-and they were kicking stores out that didn't fit their agenda
ReplyDeleteYes that was a sad day 42 years ago when Piccadilly left Perimeter Mall.
