The Yard Milkshake Bar has closed its Buckhead location after about three and a half years in business. The Buckhead location was located near the intersection of Lenox and Piedmont Roads in the bottom of the Prominence apartment community at 3699 Lenox Road.
(The founders reached a deal with "Shark" Mark Cuban for an investment in the business on the show but the deal reportedly fell though after airing.)
The first location of The Yard in Atlanta debuted downtown in July 2020, not far from The Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Centennial Olympic Park at 341 Marietta Street.
The Buckhead outpost, unlike many of the other locations in downtown Atlanta and across the country was not located in a tourist district, but was instead located on the interior of the apartment community lacking any walk-by traffic.
Online reports indicate that the chain had in recent years grown to more than 30 locations, but other reports point to previous closures in Auburn, AL and Baton Rouge, LA. The Auburn location opened a few days after the Buckhead unit but closed in August 2024.
With most milkshakes starting around ten bucks and some reaching $20, it's understandable why some locations may be struggling, especially when you consider that they use Blue Bell ice cream, which can be purchased in any grocery store.
Following The Yard's closure, Prominence is still home to several full- service restaurants like Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza, CT Reforma Taqueria, Snap Thai Fish House, and Zakia, as well as Foxtail Coffee Co.
