[ALERT] Wendy's Closes Nearly 50 Year Old "Image Activated" Restaurant in East Cobb

The Wendy’s at 13 Johnson Ferry Road across from Merchants Walk in East Cobb has closed.  The closure is part of a larger wave of closings planned by the Dublin, Ohio-based hamburger chain.  The restaurant reportedly closed as of the end of business on February 18.

The company indicated in recent days that it plans to close between 5 and 6 percent, or roughly 300 to 350 restaurants during the first half of 2026 as it works to trim underperforming units and strengthen higher performing units amidst its ongoing optimization effort.

On an earnings call last week, Wendy’s interim CEO Ken Cook said the locations targeted for closure were “consistently underperforming.”

ToNeTo Atlanta has reported in months past on Wendy's closures in Buford, TuckerChamblee, Kennesaw, Acworth, and Conley.

The East Cobb unit, which, according to property records was owned by Hoover Foods, a large metro Atlanta-based Wendy's franchisee, first opened in 1979 and received elements of the company's "Image Activation" renovation program in 2019.

Another East Cobb Wendy's closed several years ago at 3120 Johnson Ferry Road and today its former building is occupied by a Piedmont Urgent Care.

The East Cobb area still has three Wendy’s: 1270 Powers Ferry Road at the Marketplace Terrell Mill, which opened in 2020 and is one of the newest Wendy's in all of metro Atlanta, 2238 Roswell Road near East Lake shopping center, and at 2961 Shallowford Road at Highland Plaza.

What would you like to see open in place of the Wendy's in East Cobb?  Why do you think the Wendy's brand is struggling?  What is your favorite fast-food burger?

  6. @All of them need to close. UGH. People like you are so ridiculous. When there's a place you don't like, the solution is not to go. Not to wish empty real estate and job losses.

    1. You must be new to the area. Many years ago, there was a Burger King at Lower Roswell and Johnson Ferry Rd. Parkair Shopping center. It's now A Mexican Restaurant.

At at both the BK before it closed and the Mexican Restaurant.

When dining with some friends witness an employee of the Mexican Restaurant take new out of the box silverware and wrap them in a napkin for the next group of customers.

      Now I dine elsewhere.

  8. Every time I get a burger from Wendy’s it’s cold or lukewarm, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but after the third cold burger, I
Will no longer go back to Wendy’s

  10. When I used to eat at Wendy's, eons ago, every time I would place my order, I would always stipulate "without cheese" You can guess what happened next. I swear I'm surprised they didn't put cheese in the damn milkshakes. Glad they're closing.

  11. I had a bad experience with this Wendy's. While waiting in drive thru for a long time, I simply asked for an update about my order. The Wendy's employee got really angry, told me to not bother them, and that if I do not want to wait I can always go somewhere else. Afterwards, I decided never to go to that location, even though I frequently pass by it.
