[ALERT] Yogli Mogli Announces Abrupt Closure of All Locations

A Facebook post early Thursday on the main corporate page indicates that all Yogli Mogli frozen yogurt locations are closing as of February 11.  The post did not provide a reason for the closure but did thank patrons for their years of support.  (Strangely, prior to today's post, the most recent post was on January 29, promoting Valentine's Day, when they will now be closed.)

Roi Shlomo opened the first Yogli Mogli in 2009 and through franchising expanded the brand to about thirty locations across the country, most of which were in Georgia.  The company was sold to fellow frozen yogurt operator U-Swirl, Inc. in 2014. In 2015, Shlomo launched Kale Me Crazy, a juice and smoothie brand that has today expanded to 22 locations, eighteen of which are in Georgia.

As of February 5 there were eight Yogli Mogli locations in operation including seven in Georgia and one in Niles, Illinois.

As the majority of the locations were independently owned by local franchisees, it's unclear what, if anything, may become of the locations after the closure, as some - likely mid-lease - could elect to continue operating as independent locations under a new brand.

These are the current Yogli Mogli locations:

5157 Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy #109 - Hiram

3000 Chapel Hill Rd - Douglasville

3600 Dallas Highway -West Cobb

3605 Sandy Plains Road, Suite 150 - Marietta

1255 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite 35 - East Cobb

6595 Roswell Road, Suite F - Sandy Springs

2090 Dunwoody Club Drive, Suite 123 - Sandy Springs

8200 W. Oakton Street - Niles, Illinois

Yogli Mogli previously closed other locations around metro Atlanta, including those in Alpharetta, Suwanee, Buckhead, and Emory Village, among others.

The frozen yogurt craze has claimed many casualties in metro Atlanta, including national chains Yogurtland, Red Mango, Pinkberry, Swirll, and Yogurt Mountain, each of which closed all of their local shops, while Menchie's has shrunk its presence.  Atlanta was also home to several other homegrown concepts that have also closed including The Yogurt Tap, Three on the Tree, and Yoforia, among others.

Ultimately the barriers to entry were incredibly low, and for a while it seemed there was a new FroYo shop opening almost as frequently as a new Mattress Firm popped up.  The cost of many "by the ounce" operators like Yogli Mogli seemed always to increase, even as places like RaceTrac began to offer FroYo at set prices by cup size.

Are you surprised to see Yogli Mogli close?  Where do you get your FroYo fix?  What is your favorite frozen yogurt flavor?
