[EXCLUSIVE] Local Restaurant Group to Close Burger Spot, Open Upscale Italian Restaurant

Stockyard Burgers & Bones will later this week close its restaurant in Vinings, leaving just one location still in operation.  The Vinings outpost of Stockyard is located in Vinings Jubilee (2850 Paces Ferry Road) and opened in April 2016 in place of what had been Noche.

Stockyard previously closed locations on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs in 2018 and at The Avenue East Cobb in 2022.  The lone remaining location is the original on the Marietta Square.

The burger eatery is owned by Atlanta-based Fork U Concepts, a group that also owns the nine-unit Taqueria Tsunami Latin Asian Kitchen, three-unit Silla Del Toro, Forno Vero in Marietta, Cotto Modern Italian in Gainesville, and Southern Prospect in Watkinsville.

In years past, the group has not reconcepted a space when they close a restaurant, but they do plan to do that in Vinings.

According to an employee at the Stockyard in Vinings, Fork U plans to close the restaurant on Sunday March 29 and then spend at least six months renovating and upgrading the space with plans to reopen before the end of the year as Cotto Modern Italian.  Fork U introduced their full-service, upscale Italian restaurant Cotto to the Gainesville Square in April 2023.  The restaurant has gone on to become a popular destination for Gainesville diners and has an overall 4.5 star rating on Google with just over 400 reviews.

In addition to the new Cotto, Fork U has two other projects slated to open soon, including the debut of West Park Sports Club in the former Red Hare Brewing Company space at 29 West Park Square on the Marietta Square and the imminent relocation of Taqueria Tsunami from Holcomb Bridge Road to Canton Street in Roswell.

I still miss Noche being at that location, but I think the switch is a good move. That area in Vinings needs a good Italian restaurant.
