Local treat shop Doughnuts+Fries in Chastain Park has closed after about eleven months in business. The locally owned eatery featured cake and yeast doughnuts as well as fries, along with coffee from Atlanta's East Pole Coffee.
In addition to both classic cake and yeast doughnuts, fries and coffee, the eatery had more recently added biscuits, croissant sandwiches, and kolaches to its menu offerings.
The Morrises have operated a popular sneaker and streetwear boutique LVRG+Capitalist, in Snellville since 2016, but Doughnuts+Fries marked their first entry into the restaurant world, something they hoped would lead to additional locations.
The 1,500 square foot onetime Starbucks was completely transformed to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere that the Morrises hoped would resonate with the local community.
The eatery had a solid 4.6 star rating on Google, but just 119 reviews, suggesting that while the food was overall well received, it was too niche to attract the volume of customers needed to sustain it long-term.
Businesses specializing in doughnuts - especially without a drive-thru - have had a tough time finding their place in the market.
In the immediate area, a franchise of Duck Donuts that opened in Tuxedo Festival in 2017 closed in 2023, while over in Powers Ferry Square, locally owned Bon Glaze gave up the ghost in 2019 after about three years in business.
ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported March 16 that Sublime Doughnuts closed their location on Briarcliff Road in Brookhaven after about ten years in business.

Too bad it's closing, sounds like a concept such as that could do a pretty good job of killing off a lot of morons that don't have enough sense to know that kind of junk is not real good for you.

ReplyDeleteEverything they made was so good from coffee to cronuts. I hate to see they didn’t make it. Lisa and Thomas are the sweetest people and I wish them all the best.
ReplyDeleteTheir coffee was really good along with their matcha, much better than other options in the neighborhood. Their doughnuts were as well. I'm sad they closed.
