A franchise of Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken has closed after less than a year in business. The restaurant was located in an outparcel of the Sprouts Farmers Market-anchored Olde Ivy Village at the corner of East-West Connector and South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.
No official reason was given for the closure, but the restaurant seemingly had issues with inconsistent service from day one, compiling 131 reviews on Google and an overall rating of just 3.6 stars.
The 2,400 square foot space is not yet marked as available, suggesting that its closure was a surprise not only to prospective patrons and employees, but to the center's landlord (Inland Property Management), too.
When the center first opened, the Bonchon space was home to a franchise of the ill-fated pizza chain Uncle Maddio's Pizza. After Uncle Maddio's closed in 2020, a local restaurant called Twisted Kitchen opened in its place in 2021 and closed in 2025.
Despite the Smyrna closure, two other Bonchons remain open in the greater metro Atlanta area: on Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta which opened in 2024, and on Pavilion Parkway in Fayetteville which opened in 2016.

The skyrocketing prices of food due to Joe biden’s failed policies were probably just too much for this restaurant to overcome. Very soon the great effects of the big beautiful bill will cause the economy to soar. We just need to be patient

The rapid turnover at that location is definitely telling, and it’s hard to overcome inconsistent service no matter how good the food is. Hopefully the landlord and next entrepreneur can break the cycle and bring something truly stable (and delicious) to that spot!
