Bits & Bites

Select Shades recently opened their second ever store, this at the new Tanger Outlets in Fort Worth, Texas.  The Atlanta-based sunglass retailer debuted their concept at Inman Park's Inman Quarter this past February, and plans to open a second Atlanta area store early next year at The Battery Atlanta, adjacent to SunTrust Park in Cobb county.
Atlanta based FOCUS Brands plans to debut a second area location of their "upmarket" Schlotzsky's Austin Eatery on Cobb Parkway November 9.  The new restaurant is a renovation of an existing location, but will feature the brand's new menu items and design elements. The first Schlotzsky's Austin Eatery opened last December at Sugarloaf Marketplace in Duluth.  The Duluth location, unlike the Cumberland location, is freestanding and offers a drive-thru.

Tin Drum Asian Kitchen has joined the roster at North Decatur Square and will open in a 2,000 square foot space.  This will mark Tin Drum's 13th location, following the recent closure of the Tin Drum in Augusta and the planned opening of a new Tin Drum in Sandy Springs.  The Decatur location would mark its return to the Decatur area where it closed in 2014 in Emory Village.  BIP Capital, which owns both Tin Drum and Tropical Smoothie Cafe, has often joined the two concepts in new centers, such as the pair together in Johns Creek and soon in Sandy Springs.  The same is not possible in Decatur, as Tropical Smoothie opened earlier this year in Fuqua Development's Decatur Crossing nearby.

OH-SHI POKE BOWL will open in a 1,500 square foot space next to Tin Drum with Jason's Deli also signed on to open in a 5,000 square foot space along Church Street, between Bad Daddy's Burger Bar and the Solis Decatur apartment complex.  The Whole Foods 365-anchored center is also to include Gusto!, Takorea and Cold Stone Creamery among other eateries.

Sausalito, California based Serena & Lily will open their first brick & mortar Design Shop in the southeast this coming Friday at the Westside Provisions District on Howell Mill Road.  The 2,700 square foot store occupies the former Star Provisions space ,left vacant when the popular eatery relocated to Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard earlier this spring.    Serena Dugan & Lily Kanter established their company in the fall of 2003 and have grown their business to a total of five locations [Hamptons, Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Francisco & Westport, CT] with Atlanta and Summit, New Jersey their sixth and seventh locations.  Serena & Lily is described as  "a home and lifestyle brand with a fresh, California point of view," featuring assorted bedding, nursery bedding, furniture, custom upholstery, entertaining essentials, décor and lighting .

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group yesterday leased the former Harry Bissett's on Mitchell Road in Athens to Yousef Jammoul.   Jammoul owns Athens Mexican restaurants La Fiesta and Dos Palmas and plans to open "Caborita," a full service Mexican restaurant, bar and lounge in the 7,200, two  level restaurant space.  The leasing flyer indicates the restaurant provides seating for 250.

Designer Cinda Boomershine,  AKA cinda b, will be in town this weekend as she offers up goods from her handbag and accessories collection at up to 80% off.  The pop-up outlet sale takes place this coming Friday November 3 from 9am to 8pm and Saturday November 4 from 9am to 3pm.   The sale is being put on in partnership with "Waiting on Martha" and "Two Bee's Cashmere" at Vinings Jubilee.
