Meehan's Pulls an Irish Goodbye in Buckhead, Now Closed

The Buckhead location of Meehan's Public House abruptly closed last night after about four years in business.  Atlanta based 101 Concepts opened the restaurant on East Paces Ferry Road in summer 2014.  Meehan's opened adjacent to the then recently enlarged and relocated Al's Cafe Agora, and within close proximity of Fado Irish Pub, the incumbent pub of choice for Irish fare in Buckhead.
Yesterday's lone post, at 10AM on the Buckhead specific Meehan's page, gave no hint that Friday night would be the restaurant's last night in business.
"We will see you tonight for a great show by @Joe Roncetti! A night full of cocktails and live music is the only way to start off the weekend. #Meehans"

Meehan's Buckhead replaced Aspen Grille & Bartini, which itself replaced East Paces Tavern.  The space was for many years Abbadabba's, before they relocated to Roswell Wieuca shopping center on Roswell Road in north Buckhead.

Meehan's has four remaining locations: Sandy Springs, Downtown, Atlantic Station and Vinings.  101 Concepts also operates Cibo e Beve and Food 101 on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, barbecue joint Smoke Ring on Nelson Street in Castleberry Hill, 101 Steak in Vinings, and since 2014 has owned and operated Restaurant Paradis in Rosemary Beach, Florida.

The group had planned in 2012 to open another Meehan's in a former Old Hickory House in Decatur, but those plans fell apart for reasons never made public (Fox Bros. had earlier expressed interest in the same space, and they too pulled out at the last minute). There was also a Meehan's on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven, but it was sold a few years ago, and later operated as Pub 71 before becoming Hudson FC International Sports Pub last year.

The group reportedly has no plans to reopen a Meehan's elsewhere in Buckhead anytime soon.

Are you surprised that Meehan's Buckhead closed?  What 101 Concepts restaurant is your favorite?  What do you think should open in place of the former Meehan's Buckhead?

Please share your thoughts below.

Eek! Hoping the remaining ones stay put. The chicken with goat cheese mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts is one of my favorite meals!
