Daily Dose by The Merchant to Bring More Caffeine to Lenox Square

A second new coffee shop is opening at Lenox Square in the coming weeks.  Dan Collier, who already runs The Merchant on the second floor of Lenox Square, plans to open Daily Dose by The Merchant, a new pop-up coffee shop in a portion of the former Sprinkles space at the front of the mall.  As ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report, Sprinkles abruptly closed their shop at Lenox Square after about four and half years in business.

Daily Dose, slated to open next week, will offer assorted coffee from Portland's Stumptown Coffee, as well as a variety of pastries from Atlanta's H&F Bread.  Daily Dose will also feature a small selection of items from The Merchant's main store.

ToNeTo Atlanta reported in August that Birmingham, Alabama-based coffee shop Revelator plans to open new cafes in Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, each of which will feature ice cream from Atlanta's Queen of Cream.

The opening of not one, but two, new coffee shops could, but likely won't, have much of an impact on the two Starbucks locations already open and busy within the mall.

The new coffee shop will occupy the Sprinkles space until next March, at which point, based on its performance, Daily Dose could continue to operate within the mall, but in a different location.

Collier already operates two other combo coffee shops, one, Read Shop by The Merchant in Vinings Jubilee, the other within The Merchant in Dallas.

As a former buyer for Macy's, Collier has a knack for spotting trends and curating a unique retail mix.  In addition to his numerous The Merchant locations, he also operates Archer Paper Goods with locations in Ponce City Market, The Battery Atlanta and Athens, as well as Ace & Jack a pet shop, and Collier Candy Company at Ponce City Market.  Collier's retail businesses all fall under his umbrella company, The Daniel Richards Group.  Daniel Richards, a wholesale stationary business with showrooms in Atlanta and Dallas, was Collier's first foray after leaving department store life and a business that he remains passionate about.

Collier's Department Store, a new shop that was first announced in late 2016 to be opening at the new Atlanta Diaries complex on Memorial Drive, could still happen but Collier tells ToNeTo Atlanta that it is delayed indefinitely.

Are you excited for the addition of more coffee options at Lenox Square?  What is your favorite local coffee joint?  What other types of stores would you like to see open at Lenox Square?

Nice to see some of these opening up, but would be nice if there were breakfast/coffee type places in the area that opened earlier than the mall.

I do not understand why they serve Stumptown instead of one of the better local roasters (East Pole, Firelight, Radio).

Saying you would rather have East Pole, Firelight, or Radio instead of Stumptown is like saying you would rather have Dr. Thunder instead of Dr. Pepper because its local.
