[CLOSURE ALERT] Marietta Seafood Joint Calls It Quits After Seven Years

Pier 213 Seafood, a locally owned restaurant at 35 South Marietta Parkway in Marietta, closed abruptly Monday night after nearly seven years in business.  The freestanding restaurant, located adjacent to La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant, opened in early 2013 and was not far from the Marietta Square and the new-ish food hall, Marietta Square Market.

The restaurant served a variety of fresh seafood dishes such as New England Chowder, gumbo and crab cakes.  Overall, Pier 213 had 245 reviews on Yelp.com with an overall rating of four stars.

Owners of the restaurant took to their official Facebook page Monday night to announce the closure.

"We would like to thank everyone who supported us we appreciate the 7 great years...We are closing tonight"

In the many comments that followed the announcement, one patron asked why they were closing and ownership was rather frank in their response saying the reason was "not enough business."

Pier 213 was situated adjacent to a separate freestanding building where local bagel shop Square Bagel also previously operated for about seven years before closing in 2015.  The space is today occupied by Cuban eatery La Cubana.

The closure of Pier 213 precedes the upcoming closures of Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody (3PM on December 24) and Watershed on Peachtree in Brookwood Hills (close of business on December 28).
Are you surprised to see Pier 213 close?  What is your favorite Marietta area restaurant?  What would you like to see open in place of Pier 213 in Marietta?

Max’s had those typical rude , bad attitude, unappealing types of workers. Had several good pizzas there, but the experience was suboptimal. Hey food service managers, you need to get the hiring right. gnowhawesayin?

Ever tried to hire in Atlanta? Ever gone anywhere in the midwest US and saw how much better service is?

Way to bury a lede! Watershed is closing? For anyone who has paid attention to Atlanta restaurants that is a significant story.
