H&M Opens To The Public Friday June 13 at Noon... But...

As with the opening of the North Point store last month, the opening of H&M's flagship Atlantic Station store will award early arrivals with a chance to win a valuable shopping pass. The first 300 people in line for the opening ( I'd advise arriving late on the 12th) will be rewarded with a shopping pass valued at $10-$500 to be used that day. Limited edition T-shirts to commemorate the opening will also be distributed to early shoppers. Additionally I have been made aware that there will be an exclusive pre-opening shopping event Wednesday June 11 at which point merchandise will be 25% off. This is a private event only open to select VIP's.

I wonder what happens if you just show up for the pre-opening sale today?

I waited in line myself for the North Point opening and was one of the early arrivals, from talking to the head of regional security for H&M I would think that they will have a list, and if your not on it, your not getting in :( Though there was talk that neighboring retailers had received invites, so if you know anyone that works down there...?

H&M should train their staff at the new store to be better mindful of their customers, including their security guards...I got there with a friend at 7:30 pm, she looked around and found a handful. I, however, was unimpressed with the guy clothes. Well the drama started when she went to pay and realized that she left the credit card she wanted to use in her purse, in my car, so I went back to get it for her while she looked some more. I returned to the front of the store at 8:30 pm, with her card and the security guard would not let me in the store because it was closing at 9:00 pm. She would not even listen as I was explaining that I had to give something to a customer in line. Meanwhile, my friend catches on to what's going on and just dumps her crap in the floor and we both leave. I am generally not one to complain about service, but come on train your staff to listen. Also, this security guard may have been a third party hired-out for the grand opening event, but either H&M should be mindful of who they have at the front of their stores making that important first impression.

My first impressions from Friday 6/13 at about 6pm.

-Men's dept. is on 2nd floor and laid out kind of strangely. There's a section of juniors right in the middle of the men's dept.

-Clothes weren't much to get excited about. Reminded me of a trendier Old Navy.

-Bring your Ipod or ear plugs. They were blasting out hip-hop top 40 at a volume that was unacceptable.

-I'm willing to check it out again, once the crowds die down.
