Someone Looking To "Jock" Former Jocks & Jills In Midtown?

Long since shuttered Jocks & Jills in Midtown has had a lot of activity in recent weeks. Men were seen removing antennas and satellite dishes from the roof and other work was being done on the interior. Is something finally happening to this sad little space at 10th and Peachtree in the heart of midtown? If anyone would like to share, please email Eli with any dirt you'd like Repeated, anonymously or otherwise. Repeat Atlanta!

I believe that is going to be the spot for "Midtown Square".
1.2 Million Square ft. of office space. 320 residential units, 225 hotel rooms, 150,000 square feet of retail.

They are supposed to start construction in 2010 and be done by 2012, and it looks like it's going to add a really nice touch to midtown. But with the shape that the economy is in, I wonder if construction will still go as planned...

It certainly seems like the MS project will be delayed for a while if someone's investing in that building. No surprise there..I think the future is going to see projects be not quite as massive; hopefully quality might improve

Hey Demitris,

The "Midtown Square" project has been around for like 10 years...it's never going to get built. The site is owned by John Dewberry's company.

I imagine they have found a new restaurant tenant to occupy the space. When they do decide to build their amazing signature development, then all 3 buildings on that block (Jocks & Jills, the Thai restaurant and the night club) will all be razed.

We went to the diner last night. I think they call it the Mediterranean Diner now. They're open and serving food 24 hours. The bar is linoleum topped and the floors carpeted. The DJ was playing from a laptop and the light system was low rent. We ordered 6 drinks and my friend had a sandwich. When we got our bill it was $110. The drinks were beer and vodka so nothing that should reach that total. For the location and it being a Saturday night the place was practically empty (8 people... maybe). This will be on the Death Watch list before you know it.
