Arby's Market Fresh Now Just Arby's At Lindbergh Plaza

Just days after the 2009 Arby's National Franchise Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead, Arby's Market Fresh location at Lindbergh Plaza is being re-branded as simply Arby's. Arby's Market Fresh stand alone locations were tested in Atlanta and in Chicago but the Chicago location closed almost a year ago. Our location was to remain open, but clearly the fast casual idea didn't fare well in either market. Market Fresh at Lindbergh Plaza opened in 2006 when Sembler redeveloped the former K-Mart property and was similar to local offerings such as Doc Greens. Neither Doc Greens nor Market Fresh have done well and have yet to meet the lofty growth plans both had at inception. It seems likely now that Market Fresh will never grow to the chain Arby's hoped it would but most likely will remain an option as individual menu items or store-in-store formats at current or future Arby's locations. Repeat Atlanta!

This was not an appealing concept all along. Americans like "fat" food, not healthy food.

I'd modify this. Americans don't go into 'fat' food places to order healthy food. They should spin the 'Fresh Market' concept into another chain. I liked those sandwiches.

BTW, never understood how 'Arby's' managed to buy 'Wendy's' instead of the other way around.

It's all about money & desire. Arby's had money. Wendy's desired to be sold. Very simple.

It's not that simple. Where did Arby's, an anemic business enterprise with hiring freezes and restaurant closures, get the money to buy Wendy's, which has been going like gangbusters for years? This was the equivalent of A & P buying Kroger.
