At long last, the empty Target store at Johnson Ferry and Roswell Roads will have a new tenant...well, sort of. The city of Sandy Springs purchased the 8-acre property for $8 million in 2008 and wants to allow a local farmer's market to sprout up in the 200-space parking lot from March through December. The building was left vacant when Target relocated to the redeveloped "The Prado," south on Roswell. The proposal is gaining traction in the neighborhood: Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos and the City Council unanimously encouraged progress on the proposal late last month. The actual building will not be used or altered to accommodate the Farmers Market that will offer fruits & vegetables, flowers and handicrafts. With Whole Foods not far away, it will be interesting to see if there is a shift toward locally produced organics rather than supporting "Whole Wallet", as some call it. ToNeTo Atlanta

I think Sandy Springs plans to use that Target location as their eventual government center. That was the word I saw when the city acquired that property. Thanks for the info.
