DEKA Athletics is expanding its men's offerings by opening a separate store. With DEKA Athletics now in Shops Around Lenox, DEKA Mens will open today in a space nearby left vacant when longtime SAL tenant The Little Shop closed late last year.
DEKA Mens will carry the Y-3 line of clothing and accessories, ironic as the adjacent space was formerly home to the Y-3 flagship store until closing in 2008. The store will offer lines such as Retro Brand, Ever and Adidas Originals and many more lesser known and harder to find labels. The store was put together in a matter of days but the finished product looks great. A few of my favorites from the store's largely reclaimed interior decor include Rich's bins from the now defunct department store, a vintage stadium scoreboard (pictured) and a retro Coke machine.
With Canada-based lululemon athletica between DEKA and DEKA Men's, Shops Around Lenox is quickly becoming a haven for the athletic and fashionable. With Crate & Barrel opening in the remaining large vacant space, the problem for Shops Around Lenox won't be interest in the renovated center, but enough parking to accommodate guests.

well, Thats a new one for the stillborn watch
@Anon,
It's funny you should day that. It's my understanding that the store grew out of the existing DEKA Athletics (mostly women) and is being opened on test basis given the available short-term space at S.A.L. Almost a "pop-up shop" given the manner in which it came about, if its successful, it may move closer to DEKA's womens store. If not, it would most likely be closed. I checked it out yesterday, so its definitely opening, just not a sure thing. One thing is for sure, I doubt it would be kept open just for the sake of keeping it open if it does not perform well.
Thanks for the comment and for reading the blog!
